I got mine yesterday and i tested it inmediately (take it out 20 mins later couse it was night) and i went matte like incredible matte and i didn’t like it… tomorrow ill try again and see fingers crossed, my pores are larger than yours and all i wanted was something to blurr them 🥺 i was so excited now i don’t know

I love this product, I used it for the first time yesterday shade 4 and under the new nars foundation and looks amazing. I have combination skin and this product made my skin looked matte and after wearing it for eight hours my skin got a little dewy but looked amazing. I never tried nothing like this product it did valanced my oils, I can’t even explain how great made my skin look. I’m very impressed.

Mibe is on the way! Your 1st impression has me even more excited for it to come. Especially during summer months I look like I can sell oil right off my face, so excited for this product to change that!

I was so surprised myself. This only happens with one other product - the Bobbi brown liquid to powder - but the shade match isn’t exact. This is so incredible!!

I even had the humble pleasure of having Danessa re-post my IG photo to her stories (about this product) ☺️🙀 I truly hope you enjoy it every day as much as I do. I think our natural oils allow the product to sit even better in the skin as the day progresses. No need for powder since it has such a light airy feel already. I think I may try shade 4 even though I’m slightly lighter complexion than yourself I do however think that shade 3 may be a tad light. 🤷‍♀️ Your skin looks flawless and I adore your camera quality to give an accurate representation! I'm in the IK and so far can only get the universal shade which i have been using as primer. And i sweat profusely regardless of the weather so i am constqntly wiping at my face. Yet make-up doesn't budge. Literally get compliments on my skin throughout the day. My make-up looks just as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. I now want to try other Danessa Myricks products for sure! Pricey but worth it

I tried this product and it is great! I wear shade #8 alone and the universal shade under my Pat McGrath foundation. It is amazing!❤️

I tried it under foundation, using it very lightly. It looked too much, too thick. How are you applying it with foundation exactly?

Literally I have thee most oily skin ever and my results were like yours!! It’s like the prayers have been answered!!!!!! I can actually go out without worrying about my face looking like I just dipped it in a pot of grease!

So just the balm? No powder? I tried it as a primer under a cushion foundation and that was too much coverage, too thick.

I love it! I got shade 5 and was playing around with different techniques. I wore the balm under my rare beauty foundation. For once, in my 20 years of wearing makeup, my sister actually complimented me and said my makeup looked nice. I was shocked 🥹🤣 it does have a petroleum smell for me, but it didn’t irritate my skin thankfully. Thank you for your review!

@@MaryamMaquillage Cant wait for you to try that, please report back how it does! For me, I think its the way to wear it, as I need more coverage than wearing this alone. And please also try it on top of makeup (as it also can be worn) - I am curious if it will remove the makeup underneath. Thank you! :-D Edit: I wore it underneath my Suqqu The Liquid foundation today on half my face, I could not see any difference. It looked exactly the same when makeup was freshly applied, and also mid day at work, and now - after 12 hours - both sides still look exactly the same - I am equally oily on both sides and makeup has worn of just the same on both sides..... sooooo, I dont know if this has any use as a primer under foundation... Will try it tomorrow alone with maybe some powder foundation on top.

@@MaryamMaquillage little update: first off, my brain must not have been working when I first commented. I got my order in the mail today and it turns out, I DID get shade 6 because that’s the one you said was olive toned in the video. Second, holy crap this product is awesome! I’m going to do a full day wear test on it tomorrow but I’m just so impressed by the application and the finish/look. I usually don’t wear foundation or any tint so I was worried about the shade match, but it literally just melts into my skin. Thank you for the review & recommendation! I might have finally found a product that’ll help me cover up my melasma! 🥰

How do you know what shade is right for you? Without buying a bunch of colours. It looks so good!

Ahhh I've been eagerly awaiting this review from you! I had been SO JAZZED for this release since it was announced, I picked the universal shade and a tinted shade on launch day. But I have to say I was really disappointed. I tried using this a hundred different ways and couldn't get it to work. And I don't mean that my expectations were super high and this was a slight let down. I mean, it was probably the worst my base had ever looked every single time I tried it. As a primer, it had a blurring effect, but remained too slippy. Anything layered on top wouldn't set, it all sort of combined into a thick and pastey mess. Reminded me of a texture between Elf Putty Primer and Benefit Porefessional. As a "foundation" on its own, again, it sets in the sense that the greasiness evaporates immediately and a velvety powder finish is left behind. But it remains flexible, and not in a way that I like for my base. It continues to slip slide around. It's like painting the walls of my house with pancake batter. Even if the layer is ultra thin, when the water evaporates out, all that's left is a powery finish that crumbles and flakes off. It doesn't set down like an eggshell finish paint that remains flexible but also doesn't lift up and move around. And I didn't find it to be very good at controlling oil or shine throughout the day either. The thinness of which this product needs to be applied and buffed in just didn't seem condusuve to keeping matte for longer periods of time. And as a touch up or finishing powder type product on top of any product... Just forget it. It's a pastey, gluggy, caked up mess. I've tried with various primers, without primers, different spf, different moisturizers, every kind of skin prep you could possibly imagine. My skin is relatively balanced but would lean more towards oily than dry. No patches, no flakes, no texture, pores not an issue. I wanted this to be the J.Lo triple threat base product of my dreams. But I don't think it performed on any level for me. A++++ for innovation but it was too good to be true for my skin, anyway. Really glad you loved it . Nothing better than discovering a product that gives us the skin fantasy we are all searching for. Thanks for your thorough and thoughtful review. Always appreciate your skill, attention to detail, and honesty!

I'm so shocked to see similar reviews to your experience (I read them all after I filmed this), my consensus is that it DEFINITELY has to do with skin type and this product is meant for truly oily skin, not dehydrated skin that acts as oily or even normal skin, definitely not for dry skin types. For me, it's truly a game changer, it controls my oils all day and makes my pores look normal.

@@MaryamMaquillage I'm going to keep it around for the summer, my skin reacts as an oily mess in the heat. Most of the products you love and recommend work really well for me too! When pretty much everything has been done before, in terms of new releases, I'll give this product the propals it's owed for being something truly new and innovative and exciting, that's for sure. Not everything works for everyone, I think I was just a little extra disappointed bevause I don't think I've been so excited for a beauty launch in my life. If you end up with a bad skin day, I'd love to hear how this product reacts on your skin when it's in less than tippy top condition.

I have normal to dry skin , absolutely perfect and not dried out , good moisture base you are good to go.

I bought the universal shade first to try, and in LOVE with it!!! Your video was my reaction..."omg this is magic" lol Now I'm watching a bunch of review videos trying to figure out my shade 😂

This product is AMAZING! I purchased it before your review (which I very rarely ever do) and wore it to my 8 hr Sephora shift and all my coworkers were like your skin looks soo nice and it was this in shade 7. I wore it in shade 7 which there’s not many reviews on (if you wear Fenty 385, shade 7 is your shade) and used the yummy skin glow serum in shade juice boost as my primer. Chef’s kiss 💜 like you, I can’t wait to wear it again today to this baby shower I’m going to lol

Do you guys put it on before or after sunscreen? I usually put sunscreen on(CeraVe lightweight spf moisturizer), let it dry and then do makeup. But putting this balm on after sunscreen seems like it may pick up the spf like a cleansing balm? Idk what’s best

I want to love this so bad. I bought it as soon as it released. I have shade 5 and I’ve tried applying it with my fingers, sponge, brush…I’ve tried to pat it in instead of swiping. No matter how I use it-alone, under makeup, over makeup and no matter what, it’s patching. I don’t know what to do, because I’m oily and textured and I want to love it so bad! 😫

I have been playing with it as well. Cause it was looking patchy and textures. Here's what worked for me: I used no other primers. Only my regular skin care. I have found you need an extremely dense brush. I invested in the artis brushes. Very pricey but applies any product beautifully. Worth the price. But there are many great options out there. I use only a TINY amount. You can always add a little more with fingers on top, but only the slightest amount. I then applied a tiny amount of concealer around the nose and under eyes/lids I used a very very light dusting of setting powder because I'm so damn oily. Finished the rest of my makeup. It looked beautiful after hours and hours of wear. Looked very natural, had more than one person say my SKIN looked great. They didn't think I had on any foundation. I hope this helps!

Just prime? Some primers are for longevity, mattyfying, or luminous, I guys it is suppose to help blur.

Oh I have shade 3 on the way now I’m almost sure I got the wrong shade!!!! 😭😭😭

I am dreaming of the day this is reformulated to live up to all this hype. I am oily and shiny an hour after careful skin prep AND best quality mattifying foundations and still had no luck with this. So disappointing. It constantly broke up on my face and didn’t stay cohesive, making me look patchy and my skin embarrassingly awful in just a few hours of wear.

I would say it wears best on its own without any foundations. The coverage is light to medium. But the primer one you can definitely pair with foundations

I'm confused. Are you saying that you used this in conjunction with another foundation? Why? This should've been your only foundation. I can't speak for the foundation since I haven't tried it, but I have extremely oily skin as well and I also start getting shiny after only an hour. But I'm careful about the sunscreen I use underneath, because sometimes that or your moisturizer is what ruins the foundation. I also powder the heck out of my skin with pressed powder and I make sure to press it in. I don't use a fluffy brush, or it won't help much. I also always carry oil blotting sheets with me, it's a great way to keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the day. Sometimes it's not the foundation that's the problem but what we add to our skin before and after the foundation.

Please tell me, after using the yummy skin balm for a few years, do you still like it? 👍🏼👋🏼

Danessa Unfortunately it tends to create products more suitable for skin from combination to oily, terrible on dry skin. Shade ranges also tend to be dark and warm. 😢

It's impossible to make a product that every single skin type can use. If your skin is dry, you might like the Jones Road balms. Oily skinned girls dislike them for being too emollient. 👍

Since most products out there are for dry skin and people who love the "glow" , let me say that it was about time that someone leaned more towards the oily people. Even most makeup/skin care people on YT have dry skin and tend to give products that don't work for them a negative review. You have SO MANY options out there, trust me.
