📜 About the Piece:
Composers note: The Devil has always been a central figure in music history, from the diabolus in musica - the medieval term for the tritone - to his appearance in Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldat. In this piece I wanted to combine two diabolical traditions: the romantic virtuoso piano music of, for example, Franz Liszt with the heavy metal music of our own time. The title also alludes to the use of chance as a composition technique when constructing some of the irregular metre changes and how they develop through the piece. These chance series were actually created by throwing dice, a tried-and-tested method for the Devil to influence mankind.
