This is how the producers would stir up drama, Maddie talked about this to interviewers after she left Dance Moms, and how it would just end up creating stress and hurting the kids. Of course Melissa would rather Maddie have a solo. Jill would rather Kendall have a solo any day than dance with someone else! She was like that from day one. But that didn't mean Melissa was unhappy that if Maddie had a duet that it was with Kendall. They dance well together. It's sad that for a show to be "entertaining" the truth has to be twisted in this manner :/

Maddie deserved her love and attention. Watch she consult Kendall before the dance 2:59.
