to Vincent Paterno Along w MP''s style of performance & inspiration by Billie Holiday's music,, I'm pretty certain that I read on the recording info written on paper insert of disc, that all the instruments used for this recording were actual vintage instruments from early days, specifically to help create that result

Madeleine Peyroux is a great singer. Such a sexy, Billie Holiday-like voice! And I love this song

When I listened to this song for the first time I thought it was Billie holiday. Amazing!

This song comes on all the time at the Grocery Store I work at. I joke with my co-workers that we feel like we're in some smoky jazz bar from the 1940's when it comes on.

I first heard this Leonard Cohen cover at the Cape several years ago, & INSTANTLY became addicted to it!!!!! I don't know, it just has that PERFECT "Cape Cod" sound to it. As does this entire album.

She's wonderful and that's very rare!

yes, her timing is so 'billie holiday'... beautiful. and the band! these players have the perfect feel for this; the bass and drums locked in tight, and the piano! one of my favourite solos here, his whole barely-behind-the-beat phrasing is goose-bumpy (a perfect complement for madeleine's own lazy phrasing...)
