The weirdest era of this bands line up was the Kurt era with no Jon Mess. Having Will Swan do the screaming is such a massive change for the band.

It’s their best album to me. I also love Happiness.

I know Tilian is the current vocalist but there's just something about Jonny. He has so much range and power to his voice. He's very melodic

I love this performance. The sound isn't the best but I think they nailed it anyway. Cool.

Everyone keeps commenting on how mess is sick, which I'm sure is true, but his vocal performance for this album and the tours around this time were off. Not sure if it just took a while for him to get back in his groove (acceptance speech / secret band LP were a true return to form) but it really sounded like his heart just wasn't in it around DBM2. Considering he hadn't been with the band for a few years... can't hold it against him, still, happy to hear him kill it these days. Mothership is ridiculous

@@sicroyalty @beefymuffin1100 oh i know. i wouldn't argue that that didn't play a role in why he left or why he wasn't really feeling it around this time(for instance, he's on record with how dissatisfied he was with kurts performance and the direction the music was taking). and just that there were probably additional reasons why dbm2 mess was short lived and he did a complete 180 for acceptance speech. most likely it just took him an album cycle to find his groove again.

And when you mention the dissatisfaction with Kurt, that's band wide, it's well known that dbm2 was supposed to be the final album but it got so popular that they kept it going

This is soooooooo amazing

Man Johnny is such a great musician. I really wish he had pulled his life together. Tillian's great though. So glad he's in the band, and helping them go to new heights of success.

Yeah Jonny Craig made a lot of stupid decisions and was a real piece of shit for a little while,but the guy is still an amazing vocalist and talent,he’s sobered up and owned up to his mistakes,not saying all is forgotten and forgiven but he is doing his diligence,hopefully things go up for him, I didn’t hear too many nice things about him while he was in emarosa either

Compared to the studio recordings, DGD is always a bit lacking when playing live, but that's because there's a lot more that goes in their studio track. Their highly technical instrumentals require perfect timing, too. Without in ear monitors, they didn't have their timing correct for the larger breaks in the song. The sound guy they had was shit too, drowned out Eric's bass and ruined the song. Love everything these guys have done but I can't blame them for being sloppy here.

They've come a long way. I saw them in Toronto for the Mothership tour and they sounded just like the recordings. Jon Mess' screams have gotten so much better.
