Don't bother, I'm a danger to my health
Don't bother, well I'm a danger to
Don't bother, well I'm a danger
Don't bother, I'm a danger (to your health)
So I'm baking a cake, got this badass oven
Filled with goodies and treats for all of my friends
Then Jonny comes and he poisons the food
Everyone is dead, now wasn't that rude
I am
For now, as the words are meaningless
For now, because I am
For now, as the words are meaningless
(And we crack all our backs to relax and recap)
(The one time I looked like the goddamn circus)
For now, because I am
(And we crack all our backs to relax and recap)
(The one time I looked like the goddamn circus)
Nobody will ever take
The things in my fucked up brain
Well no one can ever take
The holes in my life
Take my life
Because these words they'll never speak
Take my life
Falling apart for you
Take my life
Take my eyes
They'll never speak
Take one love
Help me into you
Come away, go away
Don't bother, well I'm a danger to
Don't bother, well I'm a danger
For now, as the words are meaningless
For now, because I am
For now, as the words are meaningless
(And we crack all our backs to relax and recap)
(The one time I looked like the goddamn circus)
For now, because I am
(And we crack all our backs to relax and recap)
(The one time I looked like the goddamn circus)
(I got a sense that this is overdone)
(But at least we're having fun)
(Am I right?)
(I gotta sense that this overdone)

2:21 I remember listening to some Pandora station a few years ago (maybe 4-5 years ago?) and heard this section while I was sleeping. That section would pop in my head here and there throughout the years but I never found out/remembered what the song was. Plus, not being a musician, I couldn't replicate the riff or anything to help find the song it belongs to. Flash forward to 2018 I started exploring DGD's discography and found the song.

Given the history of this album, I listen to John Mess's and Johnny Craig's lyrics differently and its almost an apology to the fans of the original line up saying that they've gone as far as they can with each other. The rest of the Band (Mess) is wanting to head down new roads and Johnny isn't gone change anytime soon or ever. Its the farewell we deserve tbh.

^I'm pretty sure he's talking about the drama that surrounded DGD leading up to, and occurring after DBM2. And, if I had to guess, I figure that "force" he's talking about is the fact that, in spite of all that drama, they came back together one more time to make this album.

  • @stephencole5780

@@BrucifyMe I’ve also heard it’s paying homage to Jonny’s run with the band. He was reckless and lived in the moment. Every one of Jonny’s lyrics is speaking on how he doesn’t have regrets and he’s not going to change. “Don’t bother I’m a danger to myself” then the rest of the band comes from the point of view of “help me to win, soar, stand up. Help me to win etc.” meaning they’re moving on but everyone has come to terms with the situation. Jon at the end says “gotta sense that this is overdone but at least I’m having fun” which is sort of a neutral it is what it is stance.

@@stephencole5780 That's an interesting take on the album that I hadn't considered before. DBM2 lyrically (Jonny's, at least) always gave me a sort-of forlorn vibe, but after reading the lyrics again with your comment in mind, I can definitely see it's more of that care-free neutrality you mention. I wonder if this messaging was intentional on the band's part, or if we're just reading too much in ot things, lmao.

I have a theory on Mr mingus. He (or will) mics his drums supper light on recordings. Why? Anyone who knows drums knows this guy's a savage, why not have his drums front and center? Because mingus doesn't wanna be known as a great drummer, he wants to play with his buddy will and have fun. I think that's what it is to those two.. And we all get the benefits of their symbiotic talents :)

I've taken and tried a couple of anti-depressant pills; in the end, they only desensitise you as a person, void of any emotions and feelings. It's simply better to overcome it by yourself. It's insane how you can listen to a DGD for the first time and think its pretty good, then come back after it's grown on you and have a totally different perspective and love for it

Even though Johnny and the rest of the band did stay for every album that has been made they DGD always kept that unique DGD sound. DGD isn't just about the frontman like any other band. I will always love DGD no matter what happens because its helped me throughout my life.

This song is honestly one of the best off of DBM II. One of the things I appreciate most about DGD is what allll of the band members have to offer musically. They're so fucking good. :3

No matter what anyone says, every single album Dance Gavin Dance has put has been a masterpiece. They have ranged in their styles so much from the beginning to where they are now. That shows talent, true talent that this music industry does not have anymore. So all you Dance Gavin Dance fans keep listening to this incredible band, whether it be to the voice of Jonny or Kurt. Them and the rest of the band mates are what make DGD who they are.

out of all of the songs on this album, if you listen carefully this is the most musical, most instrumental, there are so many little things to enjoy, (besides jonny"s voice, obviously lol) but i love when in a band each person brings their own element to create such an awesome, and beautiful, symphonic piece of art,
