That's because at that time Bisping was champ. He wasn't the top scariest guy or anything. Merab is a real bantamweight contender and with ferocious pressure.

You can tell that Cejudos random retirement in 2020 pissed Dana off. So much that he knew Henry would try and do a retirement speech at the end of the fight and didnt allow Henry to do so and try to steal the light from Merab. Henry can do a retirement speech on his youtube channel. Later bra.

Kind of feel sorry for Cejudo. Even if Merab won the belt tonight then it shouldn't make a difference on whether Cejudo could do a retirement speech or not. They only did that because it was Cejudo and not because it was "Merab's Night." Would they deny any other fighter except maybe Francis Nganou? They just don't like Cejudo so have the balls to just say it how it is. I usually agree to a lot of things that Dana says or does when it makes sense from a business perspective except for the times he is just being petty like this. For instance Francis demanding the type of money that he did from Dana's perspective wasn't worth it because a) he didn't draw enough himself b) the amount offered was fair and his opponent was also the GOAT so that played a part in why he got offered so much but outside of that fight, he isn't worth it c) they are just about managing to make fighters understand that they can't get conor money and conor is an anomaly, if they gave in to francis's demands then other non big drawers would start doing the same d) if they caved, in general the wages would go up now some people will say fighters should get paid more but obviously from a business standpoint the company wants to pay less and its also fair enough as they provide the platform, without the ufc nobody knows or cares about these fighters and also like any business they are the ones that put up the money for all the events, promotions etc whilst the fighter just turns up to the fight. the ufc to be honest seems pretty fair in terms of salaries, the fighters just want boxing money. anyway in this instance with cejudo, it was just a speech. yes he retired years ago but he come back out of retirement which means he is active again so if he wants to retire again for the final time then yes he can. dana just wanted to be petty. but this is a lesson to all fighters. it worked out for francis but it wouldn't work out for most. if you are a non draw like cejudo and francis don't overvalue yourself unless there is a solid reasoning to do so. francis didn't go on to make more money in mma, he had to switch sports. but he had the whole power puncher thing going for him. cejudo didnt.

Merab is such a good dude..He is the most genuine loyal person in the UFC. He could be champion and making millions but he’d rather keep his best friend and see his friend be happy.. That’s rare..
