“There’s a difficult relationship between the NHS and the Conservative government.” Like there was a difficult relationship between the Titanic and the iceberg.

The Conservatives have almost destroyed the NHS. By the end of the last Labour government the NHS was enjoying record satisfaction with the public. Now dissatisfaction is at record levels.

You mean the labour government that had the north staffs hospital scandal and others, while brown set up the ruinous public private partnerships that have cost the NHS and taxpayer a fortune? That labour government that spent all the money?

Unfortunately the current Labour Party have already said they won’t reverse the privatisation of our heath service, which is the main cause of its decline.

@@cassandrabellingham8486 It looks as though they will use the private sector to help them bring waiting lists down, and then concentrate on reversing the trend. But I agree with you that it is one of the main reasons for its decline, together with underfunding.

Garnier attributes Poulter's leaving to the problems medical colleagues have had in securing a decent salary. Not a feckin' mention of a health service on its knees. Yet Poulter DID point out how difficult it was to face patients so let down by this appalling government, some of whom may have lost family members or friends because of the massive waiting list. Garnier fails to mention that Poulter also says that to get the NHS off its knees, it will take a Labour government. Well done, Garnier, another reason (as if we need one) for voting against your callous, dogmatic, incompetent government.

Because he earns enough from being an MP so that he doesn’t have to work full time for the NHS.I suspect he will do anything rather than work full time for the NHS despite back in his training years the tax payers paid for his training and much more. He can’t care for his patients that much if he’s willing to take a risk that will decide whether he works for the NHS or not.

Sadly he is, and has been, my local MP, and I can attest to the fact that he is totally useless. On January 2nd this year, I wrote to him, a month later, having not heard from him, I followed up with a telephone call, I'm still waiting for a response. The best news is that he is leaving politics but, in the meantime, the labour party are welcome to him.

Trouble for Tories is the hard right will shout & fight the loudest, thou in the minority. The sensible moderates stand down or walk across the floor - this is much more damaging to party as they lose both sense and vast swathes of voters. - Think Charles Walker, Brady, Sharma, Wallace, Heappey, Jarvid, Loughton etc., over 60 Tory MPs standing down. It’s like a battle between terrible toddlers on the right and the older adults leaving the room for some peace & quiet - thou ofc, many would have been due to lose their seats at GE.

This should be illegal, He was elected to represent the majority of constituents that voted for him... In this case conservative. Defecting means a betrayal of those constituents, and ignoring the will of the majority. Doesn't matter what persuasion an mp is, or what party he defects to, the law needs changing, whereby, if he felt that strongly, let him resign, then fight his seat in a democratic manner.
