I was going to comment on some of the inaccuracies of his synopsis of the history of Alembic, nd then he said ill orobably put some flats on. it, and ny snarkiness in me just melted away, flats on a Alembic is the holy grail of tone to me

That was my bass for several years. Actually the late Frank Fuller early right hand man to Rick Turner and teacher of Doug Irwin did all the hardware mods and inlays post Alembic. That included a double truss rod and the horn logo, bridge. It had a stereo jack to run it to 2 amps. I put a combo set of Pyramid and Framus Star bass strings when you could still get them. I designed the first Paduk pickup surround and the Control plate. Serial number and Year were the same numbers. I took the original pickups out which were #s 008 & 009 in blue plastic. Later series one e-tronics. There is another pic floating on the net where the next guy put in 6 pickups. You cant play Funk pop on it just the woody warm sound.

I think that sound would fit in a recording mix even better than a Fender P-bass, and P-basses are what a lot of sound engineers insist on.
