Damp, Sunshine And Strandkorbs - Germany's Baltic Coast | Next Stop Everywhere

Welcome to the start of our 'Big Baltic Adventure'!
Follow our fascinating and scenic journey as we head, along Germany's Baltic coast, through Poland, across Lithuania, Latvia and (hopefully) Estonia too!
Setting out from the German town of Damp (FYI, it wasn't!) we arrive in the stunning, and famous, city of Lübeck, where we wander the cobbled streets and stop to gaze in awe at the incredible Holston Gate, the only remaining gate into the old fortified city.
Then it's on to the 'Swedish' town of Wismar... okay, okay it IS German, but was ruled over by Sweden in the past, hence the rather Scandinavian architecture and the name of the pub we chose to grab a cheeky tipple from - what a beautiful place!
Kühlungsborn is next, for a little stroll on the beach and along it's famous promenade (dodging the rain clouds as we go) and then on to Warnemünde, where we finally get some sunny beach times and investigate the famed 'Strandkorb' you find on beaches ALL along the Baltic coast.
We round off with a trip to one of Claire's favourites... yes, a zoo! Rostock Zoo in fact - a great experience and and all-round fascinating day, filled with creatures great and small!
Enjoy, and join us for our Next Stop... Everywhere!

Hi Poshcats! A mix of sites, aires and off grid... it's all good, the Germans were v.relaxed and everything so quiet (seemingly most of Germany stayed at home!)

Like drinking fishermans friends !!!! and ??? thats yummy have done that a lot of times. get a bottle of cheep vodka. filter it through a coffee filter 4 times have a big shot of vodka. Fill the bottle up with fishermans friends 1 to 2 bags. The green and the black and white stripes are the best. The green one is also very usefull when you have caught a cold.

A lot of comments saying “aires”. What is that. Break it down for your American watchers. 😀

Essentially small RV parks, usually with electricity and water available, but not usually showers or toilets. Often in cities and more remote locations across Europe, and they are much cheaper than a full campsite too... perfect for one night while on the road! 👍

are you easily finding safe secure parking for the van when you’re out and about on foot ?

Yep. We tend to either park up on an aire for the night and leave the van, or most towns here have car parks with motorhome allocated spots too! 👍
