Damon Stoudamire does what he pleases and totally disregards any type of defensive effort by Ron Harper or Steve Kerr. Watching this game made me realize how similar today's Isaiah Thomas is to Mighty Mouse. The ability to almost always get past the first line of defense, the amount of control they maintain when stepping back for a somewhat wild jumper, the lay-ups they can flick up from all around the basket, etc. April 14, 1997.

I remember my grandmother buying me a Damon Stoudamire action figure for Christmas in 1996 because she knew I liked the Raptors. That guy was so dangerous then. Reasonably capable defender for his size, too. I think the comparison with Isaiah Thomas does make sense, at least during this time in their careers. Stoudamire became pretty passive with Portland, often electing to spot up rather than penetrate.

I always watch this when old heads say newer generation players couldn't play in their era. Contrary to popular belief hand checking didn't take place most of the time and guys were not slammed to ground all of the time. No knock on Mighty Mouse who was a good player, but imagine what today's perimeter scorers would do.
