It's probably because when he was injured he could only do individual drills, his handle tightened and he worked on more different ways of scoring (mainly because three point jumpers are always the same motion and that's not what you want when rehabbing from an injury, you need different movement so the muscles and tendons in the injured area get back their strength all at the same time).

I can't see anyone scoring 100, it's just hard to imagine. However, I can see someone surpassing Kobe's 81 soon. It would be amazing, but I personally would hate to see it since he was my favorite player ever & I want that record to stick around forever. With how fast the game is played nowadays, & how rapid players are shooting 3's, it's bound to happen. This is one reason they need to NOT do a target score instead of multiple OT's, which rumors are that they're planning on doing that, instead of having the game go to multiple OT's. If that target score had already existed, Donovan Mitchell might not have gotten his 71. I'm not a fan of Adam Silver as the Commissioner, he's changing up too much of the NBA traditions. In order to score 100, you have to have the following go your way: 1. Rest cause you need the stamina. 2. Lackisdasical defense in that you're not wearing yourself out on the other end 3. You must be hot for the 3-point line making at least 45 points in 3s. 4. Make your free throws 5. Coach and teammates have to recognize the moment early on and substitution patterns have to oblige to give you 44-48 minutes.

  • @2PunchMid

I think you’d need 2 OT to do it too. I’d also add you’d probably need to make 20 FreeThrows at least. Probably going to need 40-50 shot attempts which I think is absolutely insane

@@2PunchMid the shot attempts are needed IF you're not on fire from 3. Dame said he barely missed 6 3s. Let's say he made 4 of them. He would have had 83 points and surpassed Kobe. Kobe's 81 was not the game for him. It was the 62 3-quarter game. But the Lakers were well ahead. Jackson asked him if he wanted to return and he declined. But that game is the game Kobe would have exceeded 85. I think what's also needed is terrible defense or let's say unwilling defense.

There is so little wasted motion in hs shot. This generates so much power and less time spent on the fingertips means less time for the ball to be twisted/roll per se off the hand, changing the axis point at release. fingere basically act as leaf springs with different tensions that can change the way the ball comes off the hand. Id like to see the slow motion differences between Dame, Klay, Steph, even Ray Allen, JJ, Korver, and Reggie Miller. But Dames shot is literally so amazing to watch. His power and form he had during that 3-pt contest he won this year was ART!! Poetry in motion.

But like Lillard said, it would probably have to be an OT or double OT game. The game has changed so much to favor offense, and players are so overly focused on padding stats, that I think it's just a matter of time.

Too many variables about his play after each of those shots. He likely plays differently or the defense plays differently if those were made. It sounds nice, but it's always a what if scenario. That's so sick to think about, and I had never even thought about his 71pt game like that, but it makes sense. Damn.. Damian legit could've had 80-90 if he had just been a little luckier. Imagine if you had that DEN-DET 3OT game a little while ago, but a player like Dame/Steph/Luka (I agree with JJ its gotta be a guard with a good 3pt shot, maybe Durant almost sneaks in but his window is closing) was on one team and hot, but the other team was keeping up with their scoring. For sure, 100pts is possible, it's just extremely unlikely. You need so many things to go right. You need the other team to have real bad defense, but be good enough on offense to not get blown out by you so it goes to at least one OT and preferably 2 or 3 AND you need that player to play one of the best games of his life as well. Shooting well above his average the whole night.
