It's impossible to underestimate just how deep the Queen's influence has been on this country - not just today but back through generations.
Many of the people who experienced that up close are no longer alive - or are now unable to take part in programmes.
But their words are no less powerful in interviews they've given us over years gone by.
In 2007, Mary Nightingale spoke to Dame Vera Lynn: the darling of many in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. She and the Queen both held a special place in the nation's heart.
