    The more I watch? The more I realise Dambe is not as straightforward as it looks. The arena is soft ground which makes balance tricky. The stance, as well as trajectory of the punches is very linear so, fighters have got to be good at overhand straights. If we observed very carefully, the fighters don't square off but instead shoot in & slip out (somewhat like MMA) but the when those overhand punches come? Explosive! Dambe truly can teach a fighter how to deliver hard overhand straights. Forget about jabs - these guys aren't collecting points. They're collecting teeth!

    Be open minded accept other as they have accepted your ways, while, this fighting style is more culturally oriented and carry so much meaning and prospective for the continuity of moral values within their respective society's looking around the crowd I can identify traditional instruments that accompany the style of the fighters in the ring and the connection between the fighter and the crowds is just so mesmerizing. Love MMA but it begins and end without providing that since of real belonging just entertainment period.

More combat sports can never be a bad thing. Any combat discipline helps build character and gives young people something to do to keep themselves out of trouble.

    How come the “Dambe Warriors” fighters don’t have their lead legs wrapped? I thought chains or wrap was supposed to be used, similar to the hand.

  • @DambeWarriors

    @DambeWarriors

    3 жыл бұрын

    "Traditionally, the lead leg (the left in the case of a right-handed boxer) was wrapped by a chain extending from ankle to knee. Known as akayau, this could be used as a weapon when kicking. Nonetheless, kicks could be executed with either foot. Although the use of the akayau has been abandoned in contemporary Dambe boxing"
