Damascus Steel from Chains and File

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Canister damascus with chains, high carbon steel file and 1095 steel powder mixed with 4% pure nickle powder (to make it etch bright like 15n20).
The billet has steel from the file only on one side because it will be turned into a single bevel knife so that the edge will be only from the high carbon steel of the file.

It'd be such a cool thing to see different creators / blacksmiths / knife makers to do collabs together. This type of damascus seems right up Shurap's alley :P

I've always wondered how many times this happens. Seems like you'd really have to foolproof way to keep the orientation correct once it's all welded inside the canister. Maybe even double indicators one on each end.

Its pretty easy. I always weld the piece of Metal for my handle in a special direction and cut little grooves in the handle so i always know where the core is. Its way way harder if you Do mosaic with buttwelds, thats when stuff gets Hard 🤣

the spray is probably just white spray paint, tinted white with titanium dioxide because that's by far the most common material used to make white pigment. As for the liner? I don't see any sign of it in the container when it's peeled, so if it's not paper it's something else that'd combust into a layer of some substance that interferes with forge welding without intermingling with the powdered steel and nickel.
