Dallas Cowboys @ Detroit Lions, Week 10 1992 Full Game

Спорт

A much-anticipated rematch of the 1991 Divisional playoffs is on tap, as the visiting Cowboys come rolling into the Silverdome with a 7-1 record to face Barry Sanders and a struggling 2-6 Lions squad. Can the young Cowboys slow down Detroit's offense this time, or will the Lions roll to another easy victory over Dallas?
Pat Summerall and John Madden call the game for CBS. Enjoy!

I was at both games in 1991 (playoff in jan 92) and this one. And watching them reverse what the Lions did to them in both previous seasons games was sweet revenge. I live with these Lions fans and I can’t tell you how enjoyable this Win was. I still get messages from my cousins about Barry vs Emmitt. Lions fans are about as annoying as Philthy fans- almost.

Stephen Hawkins could have rushed for over a thousand yards behind the Cowboys line. The Barry vs Emmitt comparison is hilarious, Emmitt was never the same caliber of player that Sanders was. Statistics tell nearly the entire story, Sanders did it with a far less capable team. Furthermore, Sanders did some mighty impressive things and managed to do them without acting like an arrogant prick. I'm not saying that Barry Sanders was the best of all time, but he absolutely rates higher on the list than Emmitt Smith. The Cowboys picked up a lot of bandwagon fans during that time period and they were far more annoying than any Lions fan could dream of being.

@@kwantoon 😂 It's 2024... yet the Cowboys fans and the All Time Leading Rusher only got there from a great Offensive Line. 😂😂😂 Newsflash idiot... every great team and great runningback has a great line. What Emmitt was superior to Barry at was using the line to set up his runs. Barry was faster and more agile and had the exact same opportunity to be the All Time Rushing leader but left because of the Lions fans... THINK ABOUT IT.

Like night and day from that NFC Divisional Playoff game the year before. You can tell the Cowboys were not only motivated from that loss and wanted revenge, but they realized after this game they were ready to win a championship. It's a beautiful story seeing how the Cowboys grew from their humble beginnings in 1989 through 1995.

Wow! The very first play Rodney Peete hits Jeff Murphy for about 14. Then Ken Norton hits Jeff Murphy who fumbles and Russell Maryland recovers. Dallas' first and ten on the Detroit 41 yard line. Wow indeed. The rest of the game didn't improve for Detroit who was blown out. Even though Detroit went 12-4 in 1991 and played in the conference championship game. 1992 was almost a complete reversal of fortune. The Lions went 5-11 so getting stomped by the eventual 13-3 Cowboys is not surprising.

As a Cowboy fan in Toronto, I had the misfortune of buying bus game day tickets to see Dallas play the Lions in both 1985, when the Boys lost an embarrassing 26-21 game to a Detroit team that sucked the previous year (just like losing to the Bills in 1984), then the 1991 game when they got skunked 34-10. In 1992, I was actually studying for my Masters' degree at the University of Windsor right across the border in Canada, so all I had to do was wait at the tunnel crossing to jump on the bus for 30-40 minutes, got dropped off at the same place, short walk home. 37-3 Baby!!!!

If the voiceover was wiped and Darryl or Emmitt or Troy or even Romo redid the announcing that would be a vast improvement.

In spite of Emmitt's annoying 1993 holdout, Barry was worse when he waited until days before training camp in 1999 before dropping the sky on the Lions with retirement, leaving them desperate for a running game. Incredibly selfish of him, and it revealed he didn't have the drive or motivation to go after the record. Smith did.
