Mr. Harwood: You are a true artist. I would be afraid to ride hard in one of these saddles. I would be afraid I would damage a beautiful piece of art!

People SAY this is a dying trade...IT is and IT ISNT...im getting into it myself and Im getting into it to make money. LOL...hilarious...MAKE MONEY (seriously) ...But for sure I know this is a Niche Market, but that IT still has a market that is thriving. Im going to be making some fashion jewelry out of leather combined with silver....BUt FOR SURE LEATHER IS NOT TRULY OR REALLY WAS EVER a DYING TRADE. ITS JUST THAT Its a Niche market,...but still though small its huge huge huge still. many people seek this, and look for custom made masters etc....the love of leather work for money or crafting or just a hobby is still very very large world wide. So People keep it coming, keep on on working, keep on tooling keep on trying to be the best you can be and DO what YOU LOVE.....and even if BIG bucks don't follow you will be happy. if you get good enough it is possible to Live off custom work ...as well you can custom work, teach, make PDF patterns, sell on line, invent stuff, go to fairs, teach privately, have a small shop yourself, There is always an avenue for this Trade..a lot of people are returning to this as they are returning to knitting and crafting in general for relaxation...its a Billion $ industry still. This is not dying, but its for the enthusiast. I've always though it was dying too, all the crafts, then i got involved in jewelry making, knitting and NOW leather...BOY was I wrong. People are dying to do these things, and own the HandMade. People are sick over processed things. Well you know what i mean. THANKS.

cow skin is the thickest and best for leather saddle, you would want a heavy one per oz vs. a light one per oz.
