40 dollars is an absolute steal. Good on Daiwa for offering a quality product at a realistic price. Nice to see people don't have to break the bank to get a good piece of fishing equipment that will easily last them years.

I fitted one of these on my new Bass X Saint-Croix rod. Great combo.

Thanks for review and making us aware of the Laguna line. As an affordable quality option for a back up reel you can't beat it.

How do you know what sides of the fishing line to put on the reel? For line sides, do you look at the rod or the reel?

I need a backup for my tuna reel. This looks great! But seriously, $40 salt backup for inshore work, that's a steal.

I just bought the Cross Fire at Academy for $10 and it’s the exact same reel but one less bearing and a plastic handle. I have both reels and I like the Laguna more but for $10 I can’t complain.

I have 3 in different sizes 3000/4000/5000. Used weekly in the saltwater for almost the last two years. They are work horses but the knob on the 5k size sucks for inshore fishing. I also can't believe how small the spool capacity is. My fuego 2500 has more capacity than the 3k and similar capacity to the 4k sized Laguna.

@@jandhtackle they do fine in the bay and easy to service. I have other heavier duty inshore and offshore gear. Like these reels for the kayak.

Love this reel, only complaint I’d say is I wish the spool was wayyy deeper, the line capacity leaves a lot to be desired definitely a reel designed to be used with daiwa’s super thin braids, I wouldn’t use mono on this reel but overall a great steal at 50$!
