Dairy farmer in training watch out!!! The YouTubers take Blackpool YFC AGM
So it’s the first few days of the cows arriving, really enjoyable I’ve split this video in half as it was getting on to being an hour long and nobody needs that :) #farmlife #farming #agriculture

I had a heifer give 27.47 kgs of milk this morning and I was really chuffed ( she has been giving about 43 kgs a day for a few weeks) because she will probably do over 45 today and a heifer giving 10 gallons of milk a day is a big deal for us! THEN I see your little jersey cow is giving over 35 kgs after all the upheaval in her life and she weighs maybe 400 kgs and my heifer weighs at least 650 and you never even batted an eyelid! You bought very good cows . Regards from Ireland.

Sorry yes I will put it in tonight 😀🤣
I did my pre University year on a farm in Warwickshire which had 1100 acres on six sites. One farm was 137 acres of heavy clay. Some 45 acres of Winter wheat failed it was my job to prepare the land Spring barley. After breaking the crust with discs on the advice of an older member of the team the tilth was made by towing a Bomford turbotiller behind a 8ft Cambridge roll. A bit steady with a 60hp tractor but it worked. Drilled with a IH cultivator drill.

You need to larn-oop on calves and freezing colostrum. "milk milk-cow" is about 20% of the business. They're used to having brushes in the ways.

If the far side is getting slippy by scraping in- simply don't! A bit of muck build up gives cows more grip than a slippery scraped passage.
Congratulations on your new adventure, don't change your way of sharing your life. This is real, interesting, informative, good and bad. Much better than half the stuff produced for tv. Good luck to you both and your fellow farmers, hard life little reward ❤

Be very careful with tools around jerseys… they will pick them out of your pockets, grab the cords, tip buckets, taste everything. And power tools… given the chance they will take them and attempt building rollercoasters and things. And I should warn you now to be careful with the bobcat. Jerseys love heavy equipment… and will attempt to drive given ANY chance.

With the bolts on the troff you could do with some riv nuts putting in so the bolt bolts to them
I wouldn’t put sand down, it will get far more slippery when they go out to spring grass. Just be calm and patient and they’ll be fine. If you give a cow time to adjust when she stands up, moves of the stalls 🤞 all will be well. Milk down the slats should be fine.
Another good video Charlotte, looks like they have settled well.I got a message saying telegram you, knew it was a hoax. Keep up the good work .

For the trough covers you could use Rivnuts, these give you a locked in captive so you have no need to access the nut in future. Maybe the electricians or fitters who are visiting you may have a Rivnut kit with the installing tool, and could fit them for you. P.

I first wonder why you didn't choose to have twin filters. So you wash the robots twice a day? Recommendations here are three times a day. Then we can have a wash at night without having to think about changing the filter 😊

We used to have 3 robots and it’s a lot off work especially to begin with when you have to train them all to go in, then you have to go and find the ones that haven’t been in so you can push them in. We used to feed the milk that was in those buckets to the calf’s because we had plenty off calves other than that unfortunately you’ll have to pour it down the drain.

Hi Charlotte. You can turn the vacuum up a little for the cow that keeps slipping the liners. It may help. Then keep reduce the vacuum down a little each week keep an eye on here test ends to make sure she is ok. You are on rubber liners that’s good too.

We found that the red silicone liners even the smaller diameter holes were a problem for us with heifers with small teats. The silicone is a harder. I could not see the cow on the video. Are her teats wide apart? If so you can try milking her more often. It may just need patience until her under softens. Richard

Hi Charlotte, if you don't need to keep the milk don't put it in the M4USE buckets, send it straight to drain/dump then it will mix with the washings in your channels under the robots after the cow has been milked and won't smell.

You can cancel that alarm to not call you or don't reset the buckets, empty the pails but don't push empty all. If you have the red pail that's good then the milk will automatically go down the drain. Then you won't get a call. You can pick and choose what alarms that you want to call you, we deleted the m4use one and a bunch more.

@@charlotteashleyfarm ah right…in the states we feed milk with light mastitis or the extra colostrum milk to the pigs. We don’t feed anything with heavy antibiotics. Not because there’s rules, but because we don’t think it’s a good idea. We do feed our calves mother’s milk not replacer. So before weaning the pigs only get whey from the cheese, no surplus milk.
Fit Rivnuts which are a captive fixing
