トランザーの出てくる竜型の岩山が海に面していて、海面に通路が次々に浮上してトランザーが通過すると沈む。これが子供の頃から妙に好きだった。 はじめから一本の通路が浮上してトランザーが突っ走ってもいいのに、あえてあんなやり方をする。今なら当時のアニメーターの職人魂だなと思うけど、子供の頃は無邪気に見とれてた。

I love how unnecessarily dangerous this launch sequence is, old super robot sure is amazing.

Well, not dangerous if you try exaggerating things... Let's piece the formation sequence: Tranzer go - Tranzer starts cranking at an insanely exponential thrust speed since Tranzer is a HUGE trailer (which is Daimos actually) Just in - Tranzer goes in front but automatically matches the speed of Traipan 75S (the car). The car is actually the key for Tranzer's transformation. Daimos Battle Turn - After the car gets inside and Kazuya prepares for battle, again Tranzer picks up an insanely exponential speed but this time, fast enough to launch from the ramp to form Daimos (let's say 250 to 300 miles an hour, that's insane enough).

It was exactly this piece of music that came into my head when I got my first glimpse of the Land of the Rising Sun (the lights of Chiba Prefecture), just after the Sun had set as my afternoon PAL flight from Manila was making the final approach for landing at Narita Airport during my first trip to Japan.

I remember watching this series and playing with the toys at a friend's house when I was a young kid, his dad brought them back from a business trip.

I grew up throughout 90s in Poland, and I don't think I ever saw "Transformers" or such back then. Howerver we did have "Captain Daimos", and DAIMOS is my original transforming robot forever. MOYASE, MOYASE!

My favorite anime as a child. I've watched the three-episode VHS at least a hundred times.

The very 1st scene i saw when i was a kid and i fell inlove to the show,DAIIMOOSS!!

There's an easier, less elaborate way to enter your giant robot. But none of them are as badass as this.

And I still get into my car the old fashioned way like a pleb. When he yells "Diamos, battle, fight!' it's like he's yelling "Daimos, mop the floor with our enemies!"

One of the main reasons as a kid, I loved this movie was because, how his arms and dark colored parts looked almost like Corn Syrup. The flossing in the character at the end of the video where poses is what drew me in.

I miss this.

Something I only really remember seeing in Japanese shows(or shows made from/inspired by them) is their extra usually unnecessary but "cool" looking steps to do just about anything. Like I'm going to do something but first I'm going to run an obstacle course/take the scenic route, strike some poses/do some katas, and make a speech/yell an action phrase, or in a few instances play with some trading cards. There's also the transformation sequences, but those are usually pretty cool because unless they re-use footage they usually keep those not too drawn out to save on budget, and a transformation usually has an actual effect/purpose and isn't just for style points.... usually.

it's a great way to save on animation costs, because it eats up about 90 seconds or so of runtime, which would at least be... 2100 drawings, if my ballpark is right

I remember this.

I had Starbirds on VHS as a child. They used the code word "Light-speed" to enter the Tranzer truck and they named the robot Dynamo. Wish the whole series had been dubbed into English and not just 5-6 episodes spliced into a movie. This was and still is an amazing show.

There is an English dub of Daimos! The Philippines actually dubbed all 44 episodes of Daimos as well as other robots like Voltes V and Mazinger Z, though I don’t think they ever finished dubbing all of the Mazinger Z episodes.
