Daily Video Bible Reading - Matthew 12 - 1/16/2018

Branch Together brings Christians together to read the Bible every day. We know as Christians that we are called to "branch out" and reach the world around us, but first we must come "together" and develop habits that help us grow to be more like the people Jesus is calling us to be. Some people might call this Daily Devotions, or Quiet Time. Branch Together kick starts your most important daily habit.
Readings are from the New English Translation (NET)

Good afternoon. I was saved and baptized at a southern Baptist church in the mid-70’s. My understanding of what Jesus is saying in Matthew and throughout the Gospels is… Impure thoughts, lead to impure actions, impure actions lead to misery in life and in death. Example: God says, Remember The Sabbath, to keep it Holy. Man says, No work on the day of worship. Jesus says, worship God and Do Good works for mankind on the Sabbath. Another example is adultery and sexual deviancy. Jesus says impurity of thoughts will lead to adulterous and covetous behavior and actions which will lead to turmoil, destruction, misery and death of goodness (immorality). I’ve always viewed His message as… when evil is hidden within, those who are evil will produce evil fruit. The Mustard Seed, nurtured fruition is successful when guided in love; unsuccessful when guided without virtue. I’m 53 years old now and have been to many Christian churches of differing denominations since my childhood but regardless, the messages about the Gosples for me have remained unchanged. Even non-religious folk can find the truth in His conviction and advice to lead a moral life. I’m still an infant in understanding, with much more to learn but I will say that honesty rings at soul level, regardless of our selfish in nature brains, in my opinion.

Psalm 34:18 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 1 Peter 5:7 7 Cast all your anxiety on him(A) because he cares for you.(B) Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 5:8 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.(A) John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Acts 16:30-31 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”(A) 31 They replied, “Believe(B) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved(C)-you and your household.”(D)

I have a question about when Jesus mother and brothers came to visit and he said who are my mother and my brothers, but the commandments say to honor your parents. Why did he not see his mother?

I looked it up so I’m not too sure how accurate this is, but I think she was literally a Queen of the South, named Queen Sheba, who visited Solomon’s court after hearing about his wisdom and stayed and learned from him for 6 months

Why does Jesus keep saying to tell no one? I thought we were to spread the Gospel throughout the world.
