As an American Buddhist who has no idea what is being said, this brought me to tears while I meditated. Found out my cat is dying last night and this is helping me process letting her go. Thank you so much.

May your cat be reborn into a realm that he/she will be happy to. If you feel touched when you hear any chanting, that means you get in in touch with Buddha’s teaching in your past experience including your past life. Imagine the feeling arise in you when you lost something in the past now I found it. May Three Jewels bless you! Sādhu Sādhu Sādhu!

As the beginning, it's okay for you just addicted to the voice and tone of the prayers, but when you begin to realize what Damma is, you'd be able to feel inner peace and "nothing is permanent in this entire world......"

You said it beautifully touchingly. Your cat was fortunate to be with someone spiritual like you. May the cat have moved on to a happy rebirth. Yes, chanting has a magical power on our minds and we are fortunate to have easy access to these teachings which help us cultivate ever increasing peace. Stay blessed!

You should try Vipassana course. BTW Buddha, his Dhamma and his language Pali is forgotten everywhere, even in his own land, by his own people. So there are very few people who can understand meaning of this chanting.

This is very powerful and meaningful chanting. First part is Refuge to Bhudha Dhamma and Sangha. Second getting Sila which is morality teaching 5 precepts. Third very well said. Be mindful all the time as much as possible. 4th Quality of Buddha Dharmma and Sangha.

Bad and good things happens for a reason. To be good brings good merits in karma. In a human being there are both good or bad feelings in all situation of life. Why is it so? The reason is to bring balance in developing the character and spirit of a person. To be extremely good is an imbalance to be taken advantage by the wicked/bad people. Wisdom discerns may get you out of some situations but not develop a balanced character to deal with unavoidable negative situations.
