90s were the best!

I wish that stores like walmart still had things like this. Not necessarily yak baks but toys that record and play back voice. Sadly that has all been replaced by phone apps.

@@PossumMedic I have two of those. One has a 3AAA battery holder on it and lasts forever and one is stock.

@@berrypepperroni7708 They did, it was called the Yada Yada Yada recorder which was OK but I liked the tech they used in the yak bak. One other thing I wish they would bring back was the mega mouth. It was like a megaphone but it had a warper and sound effects and you could just amplify your voice. I want to add a line input to one.

@@coondogtheman i was talking about those hamster plush thingies that do the same thing/similar. i actually want a yakbak now and would defo pick one up if i find one at the thrift.

I swear to christ this toy reverted to me recording my farts and having endless laughs for hours on end.

I did that with mine. I didn't like how you couldn't archive them but I was lucky enough to have a cassette recorder I'd just play them onto the tape a bunch of times.

@@megalisa830bright6 I might have done that a few times but it would beep before the flush was done. In 97 i had a microcassette recorder and did that. Had it in school too.

Well that was a blast from the past. I had one exactly like this as a kid, though I'm pretty sure mine was lime green. XD

Ah back when recording your own voice was a novelty. I thought these were so neat. My best friend had one in middle school on which she recorded her cat meowing into it right before the cat passed away, intending to keep it as a memory forever....but one of the boys at school thought it would be funny to delete it. What a dick he was!! 🤬

I have one of these I have only changed the batteries in once in the 90's & it still works!

I was brought here by the bloopers of BigTop Burger.

Yeah! I used to have one of these. Mine was orange. I barely used it to record myself. I recorded my favorite parts of tv shows and movies. I think I also used to record parts of conversations and play it back to them lol.

Yeah! I used to have a YakBak SFX toy too, and it also had an orange front! ^_^ I miss it! :D

I had the exact same one. They were so fun. I wish I still had it! They are hard to find in Canada

Those things were so awesome! I had several versions when I was a kid. Sucks that they all break over time.

Definitely going to find more of these. I have the Yak bak 2k and a video of it but I'd like to shout out my #1 favorite movie actor on it but instead of redoing the video I'll just find a different one of these and do a video on it and shout out my boy.

Much better than the Yak Bak's as you can replace the batteries as you couldn't with the button batteries which makes the Yak Bak's pretty disposable.

I had one as a kid.

I'm curious as to where they got the small music sample from (music note button) if they made that to put on this or grabbed it from some music but it's so small it won't ever be recognized.

I just found mine and ordered new batteries. Doesn't work with the new ones. Pretty sure the batteries that were in it were the original. 😭

They released a bunch of different models over the years. The earliest ones just had two buttons: "say" and "play".

I wish I could take my phone and go back to walmart in the 90s when these things were being sold in every walmart and make a video of all the insults and things people record on these things and then buy a bunch of them and bring them back to 2021.

dude i wouldve literally killed for talkboy, and then i FINALLY found one after months of searching as a kid. they SUCKED. they were impossible to use for a kid (im 31 now, so i dont recall exactly how old i was at the time... maybe 8 or something?). then yak bak came out and actually worked... and easily, too. sure, it may not have recorded sound bites as long as talk boy's, but you couldnt use talk boys, so its a moot point. all it was was a tape recorder... also, remember how kids who would play with them at the store but not buy them would record something (usually an insult with a curse word) and leave it on the shelf for the next person to hear?

To be 100% honest my parents were really big on not touching anything unless we were buying it but fast forward a few years and I do have a distinct memory of always hitting "try me" as many hop along Tiggers as possible whenever the opportunity presented itself...all this fun stuff our kids will miss out on w/ these online toy stores!

+Stanley Christopher yeah, thats because you had upright, good parents. but parents couldnt keep an eye on their kids every second at k-mart or wherever and they loved to record insults and foul language for the next sap to hear.
