Part of the problem is watching KZread, where the players show win after win in their 20 minute videos, forgetting that they were there for hours and hours. It makes it seem like all they do is win, but that's not the case. We just get the highlights because that's what gets clicks. A quick win makes me think that I'm on a hot machine, but I've come to recently realize that "Fast Win is Last Win". The machine doesn't keep paying out. And pay attention to how the machines tease you. Huge orbs, until you actually get six, then the orbs are 1x or 2x.

I used to watch channels like that, now I only watch ones where they show both wins and losses. I always knew the players that only showed the wins weren't being honest but wins are more fun to watch. Sometimes, players will give up an early win because they don't want to make a 3 minute long video. They stretch it out to 15-20 minutes and end up losing big. That's the reality of you going to the casino and getting a nice win early. What do you do? Just quit and leave? In reality, that's the smart thing to do. The longer you play, the better the casino's chance to get your money back. But there's no way to know. Even an hour long session is still just a small blip in the lifetime of the machine. Variance can be wild in a still relatively short time period.

Sad thing is, I could probably write a book on what not to do. But I don't follow my own advice most of the time. Once you're engaged with the chase, its hard to give up. I've found myself chasing maxed out majors on games to the point that if I even won it, I would still be at a net loss overall. I saw a lady do just that at a previous casino visit. A major was maxed out on Lightning Link at $1000. She kept playing and finally won it. But she put in over $1500. She still got some smaller wins but overall, won a major and lost money.

This is probably on the other side of the spectrum to chasing wins, but...one pattern that I often experience is winning early on in a session, where I'll be up several hundred dollars or even more within 30 minutes of arriving at the casino. This can be very problematic to the mindset of a gambler. The temptation to continue playing is strong - you just arrived, so it feels strange to think about leaving so soon. In your mind you've planned maybe 1-2 hours in the casino. Winning so early on can play havoc with your head and disrupt what you had imagined when heading out to the casino.

Since following you and Brantley I no longer chase jackpots. I live close enough to the casino that I can be happy with double my bankroll. Sometimes I only play free play. Last night I went in with $200 and I planned to walk away at $50 at the low end. My first hundred went over 730 and set my cash out at 700 and put that Tito in my pocket . My second 100 went up and down and I lost it. I was tempted to put my Tito in a slot so I cashed it out instead and went home. Walked in the casino with 200 walked out with 700 and was back home and had only been gone an hour.

The casino is 20 minutes away so I can stop in and scratch that itch every day if I want to. I also enjoy counting money I didn’t have to work for. With small wins I’m up $2700 for the last 4 weeks. My chase stimulant is anger. By the time I get to the fourth or fifth machine losing every time I am pretty heated. Now it becomes a personal battle to beat the machine. I’ll raise my bets and start losing even more. And I have done this until I am out of cash only to go withdraw more. And it all happens pretty fast. If the casino doesn’t have any area to sit and chill out then it’s worse.

I live in Illinois, we have a lot of those places. Smaller and with just a few machines in each. They are everywhere. The ones that are inside truck stops are also 24/7. So you can literally play at any time of day. $4 max bets on the machines but you can win big at times. No taxes either, loopholes are in place to prevent that. Bonus games aren't free, you are given credits to play bonus spins are are actually charged for the bonus games. Like you're betting $1 and get a 10 spin bonus, you get paid $10 and each spin costs you $1. Each spin is considered separate and max you can win on any spin is $1199, just under a handpay. The largest progressives are $1199 so that's the biggest single prize you can win on any given spin. I have had several wins that were over $1200 total. Biggest was a $2400 win. Some people have won much more, highest was $22,000 overall in the whole state.

I have my story only been to the casino a few times. But the one that made rethink on this was my wife and I we’re both chasing a bonus. We took 800 for our bank roll but I made a mistake and brought my debit cards. We lost all 800 and so we decided to take out 500 more. We almost lost it all and I got 2 good size bonuses and won all 1300 back plus 300. The kicker is we both had our bonus meter back up to almost triggering again. We thought we were lucky so we pressed our luck and lost 1500 of what we just won to try and hit the bonus. What a crappy feeling after that never again I said. So we don’t take bank cards or anything that gives us the ability to get more money out. Been Watching videos on what helped people play more under control. Putting them into practice. It’s not easy to stay disciplined. The thing though is that it’s a better feeling going home and the next day after a little lose instead of losing more.

  • @gregrowe1168

Bonus meter? I guess I know what you mean but those type of games are the worst. It tricks you into thinking you're close but in reality, its still random. Just like games with pots filling with coins, pigs that get fat etc. It's all an optical illusion. The game rules even tell you that it means nothing, it's just for show. The bonus meter is even more misleading because yes you definitely will get the bonus when you reach it. But you don't know how many spins that will be. Might be 10 but it could be 1000. Putting it on the screen for you to see will make you spend more money chasing it and slot manufacturers know that.

The problem with setting limits is the ability to break them. Ironically, all my biggest wins in my life were when I was chasing a loss. I was always down and got a huge win. Had I just quit, those wouldn't have happened. But overall, playing more conservatively would probably have led to losing less money. My daily limits on atm withdrawals probably helped me lose less money. $500 limit sounds like a lot but if it were higher, my disastrous days might have been even worse.

Marc great video HOWEVER, every influencer talks about the money they lost the day before and they are trying to win it back!…your videos address real issues but gambling is an individual sport….!! It can be fun and it can be disastrous!!!!… you’re dealing with money….its difficult to reason when there could be a jackpot at the end of the rainbow😏😏😏😏😏

There have been for me many times and reasons why I've chased wins. It's amazing the many phychological factors out there. One of mine I've done for example is when I'm down quite a few bucks and I know I need to leave the casino in 45 min to an hr. I hate leaving down, so the lower bets get bet faster, the slower bet speeds I do (every 20 sec, 30 sec, 40 sec between bets) get bigger, and lastly the possibility betting higher AND faster. I can be disciplined with time on my side, but as it winds down its best just to call it and not get that temptation.

When I go to Vegas, I have a rule where I bring what I’m allowing myself to spend in cash. I put the cash in the hotel safe and each day I just bring a portion of it. For example, If I go for 3 nights and I bring $1500-I put $500 in my wallet each day. That money is to be used for my food, drinks, gambling, entertainment each day. If I feel lucky and want to gamble more--I’ll use a greater portion of that money towards gambling-which means I’ll spend less on food/drinks/entertainment that night. I have a strict no ATM or credit card policy while I’m there. If I win money and end up with more than $500 at the end of a night-I’ll put the extra in the hotel safe and that next day-I still only leave the room with $500. I view gambling as entertainment-so I budget it into my trips as if it was part of an entertainment budget.

I've been playing slots for 5 months now and it's been really complicated. Somehow I started winning almost every time I go to a casino, but when I have a bad day I actually feel what you are talking about. My goal is always to multiply my money by three, if I don't reach my goal in 2 hours then I walk away immediately. But man, that feeling when you hit the jackpot and it pays you very few money, makes me want to destroy the fkin machine.

I walked out Wednesday after doubling my money ;-) however the Wednesday before I spent all my money went to order food and while I was waiting went to get more money played for 15 minutes and hit 2 jackpots that got all my money back. I could afford to do this but I agree does not always work that way. Matter of fact if someone asked me how you do that or what machine and what was the bet, I would tell them don't......just do it for fun.

2 items to think about-1) like playing a certain game, mine is Keno-4 card, only a few machines in a certain casino and the town has only a few casinos, some with no Keno machines. Hate to give it up knowing a person is ready to take my place immediately. 2) hate to Chase and then when out of money, all in the machine, next person hits a jackpot. My thoughts on why I stay longer than I should. Money management is the key.

Just try and keep in mind your play has no effect on the outcomes the next players may experience or your future outcomes. Understanding that has made it so much easier for me to walk away. Even if someone hits big on the next game I know the chances of me winning that if I had continued to play would be very improbable. My decision(s) had nothing to do with the following outcomes. When you start to look at in the proper perspective it's easy not to worry about what's going to happen next.

I’m bad for all of this. The one that eats my credit the most is when playing I might have $120 and I’ll say to my self I’ll play it down to 100 then when I’m at $101 I trick my self into one last bet then I’m at $98 so I allow myself to get that down to $90 then $80 and sometime I’ll get close to a feature so I’ll keep going for 1 or 2 more spins next thing I’m at $30 and Im chasing back the $70 I just gave back. I said trying haha

We all know the casino has the edge on every game but it's too big of an edge and they would still make millions upon millions even if that edge was smaller. I don't know how it is in other states, I'm sure they'll say it's damn near the same everywhere, but in ohio here, it's truly horrible.

Man my wife got stuck on the chase playing a pac man bingo type slot once, she had people stalking the machine waiting for her to give up or go broke so they could swoop in, she got up to go to the restroom and I sat down and hit the bingo within 3 spins lol, got her money back and told her please let's not get trapped onto that chase again ! That machine was well thought out to hook people into the chase for sure. I know they all are made that way but that thing was a beast at it 😆

Great comment, Marc, but maybe you can comment on the flip side. There are times where you go on a tear and can't seem to lose. You start feeling invincible and start "feeding the beast ". You get caught up in the excitement and before you know it you've put a sizable chunk of your winnings back into a machine. Hey, it's all about RTP return to player, not RTC return to casino. When you're up, gamble smart, and look for the exit.

I never chased, but I would like to do it once to get it out of my system I have limit for 50 spins in place at $1,125 it's all im carrying on this visit. This .25 cent crystal stars machine I found in Kentucky had a progressive of 90,000+ I will admit I fell victim to hitting the max bet once for a 90 coin spin that is required to hit the progressive. After the press I thought about yall and the max bet block cover I need to order. Still managed a profit on the machine with $100 turned into $170 on a $125.50 line hit.
