Wow! So grateful for this video. I’ve been in acts for the last week reading a chapter each morning and then looking for videos to provide additional understanding. I love the comparison to accepting praise for oneself. I saw this initially as the apostles correcting the behavior and missed that the real story is not allowing pride to enter their hearts. Thank you.

Amen. Oh child, there was a weird voice at the start of the reading which made me drop the food and started looking around in my room. What was that!

In my Bible I read about a legend in Lystra. Zeus and Hermes had visited the town once before and had been ignored by everyone except one poor couple who took them in and were thus rewarded. Those who showed no hospitality were destroyed. With that legend in mind, the inhabitants of Lystra were not going to fail to show honor and hospitality to Zeus (Barnabas) and Hermes (Paul) on this 2nd visit. Thus their adulation and worship were based on hopes of being rewarded and not judged.
