We offer a structured plan for reading the Bible in a year, featuring daily selections from both the Old and New Testaments. Each day, you'll read three Bible passages. This chronological reading plan guides you through the scriptures in a year, encouraging reflective meditation and a deeper understanding of the historical and theological contexts. This approach fosters a disciplined and meaningful engagement with the Bible.

The Parable of the Two Sons (Matthew 21:28-32)
Jesus tells the story of a father who asks his two sons to work in his vineyard. The first son initially refuses but later changes his mind and goes. The second son agrees to go but doesn't. Jesus asks which son did the father's will, and the answer is the first son. This parable emphasizes the importance of actions over words. Jesus points out that tax collectors and prostitutes, who initially lived sinful lives but repented and followed God's way, are entering the kingdom of God ahead of the religious leaders who profess righteousness but do not follow through with their actions.
The Parable of the Wicked Tenants (Matthew 21:33-46)
The second parable involves a landowner who rents out his vineyard to tenants. When the landowner sends servants to collect his share of the produce, the tenants beat and kill them. Finally, he sends his son, whom they also kill, hoping to seize his inheritance. Jesus asks what the landowner will do to the tenants, and the answer is that he will bring those tenants to a wretched end and rent the vineyard to others who will give him his share. This parable illustrates God's judgment on those who reject His messengers and His Son, and it foreshadows the transfer of God's kingdom from the religious leaders to those who will produce its fruits.
Key Lessons
True Obedience: The parable of the two sons teaches that true obedience is demonstrated through actions, not just words.
Repentance and Grace: The first son represents sinners who repent and turn to God, showing that God's grace is available to all who genuinely seek Him.
Judgment and Responsibility: The parable of the wicked tenants highlights the consequences of rejecting God's messengers and emphasizes the responsibility to bear fruit in God's kingdom.
These parables call for self-examination and repentance. They remind believers to align their actions with their professed faith and to recognize the grace available through genuine repentance. They also serve as a warning to those in positions of religious authority to faithfully steward their responsibilities.
