Wow! Incredible job on your friends flowers!👏👏👏 I know how much time & hard work goes into doing that! Glad your Dahlias made it through everything ok! They ate such troopers. Mine are look really good, just blooming away. Whereas my petunias all look like junk now!😭 This year was probably the absolute best my petunias, hanging baskets & containers have ever looked - but after reigning ash for 2 days & then skys blacked out by smoke for a week they all look over the hill!😵 Tomatoes are still hanging in there too, but I can tell they are sure being hindered in wanting to ripen!😕 Also, what a trooper to stand out there as long as you did & put that arrangement together for us like you did! I can't even go outside w/ out having a mask on to water or anything! Guess we can thank Covid for one thing?!😷 Can I just tell you that I geeked as soon as I saw your Love Lies Bleeding!!!!🤩🤗 Love that plant - also love putting it in my arrangements! Haven't grown any for a while, & had seeds to do so this Spring but things just got away from me!😕 Had so so many "filler" type plants that I was gonna start from seed this year, but between some of my physical pains & dealing w/ my Mom's health issues it just didn't get done! O'well - perhaps next year!!!!😅

Aw, it’s so good to hear from you. 🥰 I was thinking of you when the wildfires began, I can’t believe how bad it’s gotten. 😭 I’m happy you’re staying safe. Those wedding flowers were so fun to do! I can’t wait to do that again. 😁 We are suppose to have rain tomorrow, so I’m praying that it happens. Have you noticed even with a mask, it’s still difficult to be outside? 😭 I’m happy I’m not the only one who Petunias are long gone at this point. My hanging baskets looked so beautiful this season, and they literally shriveled within a few days. 😭 Im just patiently waiting to get my hands on our Fall plants to change out my containers, a lot of our nurseries are also closed because of the smoke. 🙁 Have you grown the Coral Fountain Amaranthus? That one is always so beautiful. I had a box of seeds I completely neglected and forgot to plant this season too. 🤣 Keep me posted on how things are in your area, and stay safe. @@InTheGardenWithClaudia no I haven't, but I have grown one called Hot Biscuits & the green Love Lies Blending before. They are both fun in arrangements. Kiss Me Over The Garden Gate is always a fun one too - as well as Jewells of Opar, Money Plant & Pumpkin on a Stick (especially for this time of year!🎃). One of my favorite pairings w/ peach Dahlias was just a purple Salvia. I used to grow one Ball variety that I loved called Temptest & the Salvia brought out this purpley center that you almost didn't notice other wise. My Mom & I also used a lot of herbs (that would hold up) in our arrangements like Rosemary & Sage (especially the 3-color-varigated). Rosemary would sometimes help lend to a "woodsy" effect if we didn't have any evergreens on hand - plus it always smelled great once brought indoors!😄😉 Aw, thanks for your thoughts & prayers! Yes I didn't realize just how bad it haf gotten up in PDX until they finally mentioned you guys on the news yesterday. I know my brother & his family have been having a time of it too in Salem w/ the Detroit fires.☹ Yes, they say unless you have some kind of specialized mask it really will not help you out there during this; but I know the paper mask we have been using are helping to some degree so you at least don't smell it so bad. Whenever we need to go to the stores, we now are having to wear them in the car too. That ash got into everything! The 1st time we opened our car doors it was in all of the cracks & crannys so it blew into our vehicles all over our seats; but the worse was when I 1st turned on my car & got a face full of ash from the AC!!!😳😫🤪 We were both sitting there picking it out of our eyes! It was horrible!!!😅 Yes, usually as Oregonians we are praying for the rain to stop! Seems strange that we are all now praying for a downpour!!!!🤔😂 You & your husband stay safe during all of this too - & try avoiding doing as little as possible as you can outside until it's passed (believe me, I know how hard that is! I was just saying how many projects I still had left to do this year & that this is really holding me back!😕)😘💕

Aww thanks Ronda. 🤗 When I was outside filming this video yesterday it didn’t feel too bad, but today is way worse. ☹️ I really hope we get that rain, but thankfully we are not in the evacuation zones, so of course it could be worse. I have been using my Young Living oils inside, I thought of you. 😍 The oils paired with our Alen Air Filters have helped a lot. 😊

Ronda Tignor we’ve been using the RC during the day, and peppermint and lavender in the evening. We have a couple of the Aria Diffusers, and they’re just amazing! 😍 What are your favorite oils?

I have a question. It's my first year growing dahlias and I have noticed my flowers are misshaped and not opening fully. Do you have an idea what is happening? This arrangement is gorgeous!!

Aww thank you so much!! It sounds like it could earwigs or tarnished plant bug damage. Bonide has a good insecticidal soap that could help. I’ve noticed a few of my dahlias having the same thing. Spray early morning or evening, and follow the recommended usage on the back. 🥰

how long will dahlias last in floral foam?

Typically mine last 6-8 days depending on the variety. I would say if you harvest them early enough and you keep them in a cool area like even your refrigerator and only use them right when you need them, they should last a while. I also checked the foam, if I feel that it’s super dry I’ll pour a little bit of water on it. 🥰
