I just realized the movie is one huge metaphor for the music industry. You have these talented people (aliens) signing these contracts (brainwashing) being controlled by the music industry (Earl de Darkwood) and then just cast aside when they fulfilled their purpose (jumping into lava after getting the manager the record). The main characters can kinda be seen as Daft Punk themselves. As the duo made sure that the music genre was the helping them, not the other way around.
@dartagnanbutler6008
3 жыл бұрын
Basically, they sighn the contract and the band can be consumed by the fame and can change. But this is mainly about the managers being in a parasitic symbiosis with the band? The manager starts to be mutualistic with the band at first but then changes they deem fit are requested of the band but they refuse but have no choice due to the contract and if they dont follow the details then they never work in the setting they are in?

If somebody is wondering about the meaning of the title, well here is the answer: "Veridis quo" is a bit of clever wordplay on the Latin phrase "Quo vadis?", literally, "Whither goest thou?" or "Where are you going?". The greater meaning of the phrase is, "To what purpose?" or, "To what end are you doing this?" This is directly from Wikia, however I felt it should be stated somewhere in the comment section.

We don't know anything and even less if they broke up in good terms. Maybe they were forced to stop making music due to something in particular or they didn't get along or simply they just didn't feel like it... could be due to many reasons and sincerely I hope we never find out. This is none of our business.

this simple fking melody is so touching for me. it feels like an empty black hole but there's yet a slight ray of sunlight somewhere shining and you're following it. really hard to explainn how sad it feels deep inside but yet it can also make you feel hopeful. one of a kind with such simplicity. out of this world...
Don't want to spoil the movie Flee, but the scene with this track just destroys me.

I agree. These older physically drawn animations are starting to become a lost art with the advent of computer animation software. Modern animation still might be drawn by hand, but it is not drawn or colored on a physical medium such as paper. It really makes you appreciate how every single frame of old-school animations were painstakingly drawn and colored with little to no technological assistance.
@idoltrash2353

While I partly agree with what you're saying I wouldn't say it's as an absolute like that. there are cases of awful painted cell anime as well as there are amazing modern shows that use techniques only made possible by digital colouring. Creating anime is still a painstaking process even with technology and when you look at the ultra fine attention to colour from studios such as Kyoto animation, Shaft and Ghibli this becomes apparent. So yeah i understand enjoying the aesthetic of painted cells, case in point being Gundam wing, but in many cases computers make new things possible, they don't necessarily make jobs easier.

DrewPicklesTheDark Ok. My theory on this is that he would collect aliens and extract every ounce of joy from their souls, some in the form of golden discs he would manufacture since they didn't exist. Once all the joy was out of their soul and they lost the will to live, they were sacrificed. Once the music awards, Golden Records, were out, that replaced the need for him to make them. Now all he needed to do was win, since it had collective joy that the planet agreed to. So Gold+ Joy + soul of Joyless = immortality and universal conquest. I think.
