  • @xbenci

    @xbenci

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@calebdonaldson8770 I do wanna fite you. first of all, I don't see when DP has actually surpassed this album: there is no record better than Discovery in their catalogue in my opinion, but there may be a few tracks of theirs that can be argued to be among their best (and therefore better than the Discovery tracks). also, I believe the album is fine as it is, I wouldn't change a single track on it, but it's not a perfect record; the enjoyment is definitely not at its maximum in my opinion, but I also think that it benefits the record in some kind of way: if all the tracks were as rich and colorful as a One More Time or a Digital Love, it may get stale because of its overripe production or because they may have not been able to reach peak with the same formula over and over again, as it is hard to do that; but, back to what I was saying, although I believe it benefits the record, the variety also makes it have some moments that are not as strong as they could be: it's not easy to have almost every single track sound totally different and excel in each and every different style. and I'm only making these arguments because you asked for them (yes I know it was an ironic "fite me", but it's still fun to have discussion), because if it were for me I would say as little negative things as I can about this record. it's a very, very easy 9/10

    i honestly consider daft punk as the greatest band of the last decades. their songs are so carefully layered and complex yet they feel so intuitive. guy and thomas' conception of music seems so magicaly out of this world. however, what is the most admirable is their ability to deliver an immense variety of deep, complex, raw feelings through electronic voices and sounds. those two robots truly are the most human musicians out there. sincerely, from a girl who can't stand electronic music.

    This is the album that made me realize what music could be. I had only heard what my parents played on cassette and what was on the radio until one fateful evening while i was watching toonami in the early 00's. Interstella 5555 blew my FUCKING mind.

    It's such an incredible album. At first, I kind of had the mentality that the first four songs were some of my favorite songs ever and the rest of the album just goes downhill. Now, I think every song on here is essential and it's one of the most consistent albums I've heard. The first FIVE songs (after I realized how amazing Crescendolls was, the shaky synths and diverse instruments are great) are all huge, energetic bangers, and Nightvision is a beautiful ambient song that leads you into Superheroes. That song always gives me a ton of energy, it seems repetitive at first, but the synth lines at the end are absolutely beautiful. High Life brings another fantastic/unique sound on this album, and even more energy. Something About Us is absolutely beautiful and devastating, with some of their best synths. Voyager has some AMAZING bass lines and synths, and is their most underrated song by far. Veridis Quo is just stunning, and Short Circuit's quirky and all-over-the-place synths lead into one of the most melancholic moments on the album. Face to Face provides a really accessible and enjoyable style to the album, that features some INCREDIBLE samples and production. Too Long is an amazing, epic, and energetic ending.

    Same here. My first impression when I heard that record was to shuffling to the main titles (One More Time, Aerodynamic, Harder Better Faster Stronger...), then leave the quieter tracks. I thought too that "Too Long" was, indeed, too long. But Once I saw Interstella 5555, I couldn't say that any track could be expendable. So I learned to love the album in its entierety.

    My Personal ranking of Daft Punk's albums *#4: Human After All* Very disappointing, after the amazing record that was Discovery, this album was just meh, for Daft Punk at least. They seemed to adopt a strange, new sound for this album that sounds a lot like Justice, with a lot of electronic "wahs". It's not horrible, for an album overall, it's great and definitely one of the best albums that came out in 2005, but not up to DP's standard. *#3: Homework* What a great start to a legend. Everything about this album changing the EDM scene has been said, so I'll say this- this is an amazing album. The songs established a distinct sound, with its wonky sampling and flows. Around The World, Da Funk, and Revolution 909 are perfect and catchy. My only problem is that there are a few too many songs, and some of them are forgettable, like Burnin', Teachers, and the caboose Indo Silver Club, which I can't say are classics. *#2: Random Access Memories* I love the guitar riffs on this album. I don't know why. They just sound great, very much like Chic, and that makes sense since Nile Rodgers was on this album. The vocals, a departure from Daft Punk's usual robotic voices, are great, Julian Casablancas and Pharrel Williams are some important highlights. This is essentially a funk album, and because of that, some people may not like it, but it's amazing. *#1: Discovery* I fucking love this album, I won't lie. This is my favorite album of all time, above even Dark Side Of The Moon and Sgt Pepper. I could for hours and hours on why this is a perfect electronic album, but what I love the most is how each song flows perfectly into each other, which still amazes me. "Digital Love", "One More Time", "Face to Face", and "Crescendolls" have very influential to me, and remain some of my favorite songs. *Ratings (out of 5 stars)* Human After All ⭐⭐⭐ Homework ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Random Access Memories ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Discovery 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    I know digital love is definitely one of the more shallow tracks on the album but god damn does that guitar solo leading into the chorus at the back end of the song still gives me shivers. I think it's that good

    Possibly still my overall favorite album of all time. As you grow, it grows, you learn the depth of work put into it, you can see why virtually every dj is directly influenced by Daft Punk. Yet, none can match the genius as good as some modern producers may be.

    Finally bought the vinyl yesterday after it had been out of stock for like over a year. Listening to it just now for the first time on vinyl, and man, what an INCREDIBLE experience. It's just one of those albums that sounds like it's been recorded yesterday, and it'll probably still sound like that in another 20 years. A perfect album from start to finish, and quite possibly in my top 10 albums of all time.
