A dad who was forced to sell his dream car 15 years ago to support his family could not believe his eyes when he opened his barn door to see the vehicle in which he shared so many happy memories waiting for him. After years of trying, Denny Harvey's family had secretly tracked down his 1959 Edsel Ranger, purchased it and planned a big surprise. According to Denny's son, Anthony, from McCordsville, Indiana, his father had had first purchased the car in 1990, and some of his fondest memories as a child were sitting on his father's lap as he took the vehicle for a spin. Denny loved the vehicle, his family said, and he would take it to car shows with his late brother until he got caught up in bills in 2004. Thinking the car would bring in the most money, which he desperately needed, Denny was forced to sell his beloved Edsel and never saw it again. One day, though, while going through family documents, Anthony came across the vehicle identification number for the car, setting himself the challenge of tracking it down. For some time, Anthony said, he had no luck - but in 2018, he was finally able to find his father's car down and purchase it.

Most men don't bounce around screaming. We stand quietly trying to force the tears back. And a car man myself, I can tell you nothing will ever top this moment for him.

Speak for yourself, my dad was absolutely giddy when my mom bought him a bandsaw for his guitar shop. If my dad had something like this gifted to him it would've been openly weeping and big hugs and effusive gratitude. Some men are okay with sharing their emotions...I know several.

Most reactions people look for are jumping up and down and screaming. But there was something about the quiet dignity that this man showed, especially knowing how much he sacrificed. Somehow that made it all the more powerful.

Cars used to mean so much. Nowadays cars are these garbage built over complex gaudy machines built to make companies money. But cars used to be a craft, they used to last a lifetime, their styling was an art their sound their look their feel all of it. There used to be so much behind every vehicle, each one seeking to innovate and push the technological edge further. That car is a priceless artifact of better times, It is a priceless artifact of that man's life. A car like that can mean so much to a man. It's truly a great thing to reunite him with it. I hope to one day be able to afford myself a classic car. My father used to have one but in a similar manner it was sold to make ends meet. I've always loved classic vehicles and trying to find one is hard enough in itself but at an affordable price nearly impossible.

The way he looked away from it for a minute right after in shock says exactly how much that Edsel means to him. To some of us, classic cars are an old friend or a part of our family, they are part of our lives. You give so much to them and you treasure them, and the memories attached to them of different times, places, and people are so strong you can feel them when you sit in that drivers seat. That makes me so happy when someone is able to be reunited with a classic car that meant so much to them, there's cars that meant the world to me that would make me tremble if could see them again.

Man this hits close to home. I sold my old Stratocaster in 2005. I’ve asked around at every guitar shop in town & tell them if they ever see a Daphne Blue ‘72 Strat come walking through the door to call me asap- & that I’ll pay a finders fee. Some of the store owners/older employees remember it as my guitar (rare color) & do keep an eye out for it. It broke my heart when I sold it, because it truly was a great guitar, but more importantly it has a lot of sentimental value to me. My sister actually bought it for me when I was 17 & I played it at roughly the first 50+ professional, paying gigs I ever did. I also used it to record on my bands first album. It’s hard to believe it’s coming up on 20 years since I’ve seen/played that guitar. There were a couple of reasons I needed money at that time, & all those reasons were tied to my girlfriend at the time. That 5 year relationship ended a week after I sold the guitar, & my Golden Retriever died a few days before we broke up. All these things absolutely devastated me, but that breakup damaged something deep in my core- & it came out of the blue because I didn’t a breakup coming at all. The month of May 2005 literally changed my life, & it wasn’t in a good way. Man- Writing this comment was kinda like therapy- I wasn’t intending to include all this extra sappy relationship stuff- but it just started coming out. Only started to tell about the Strat.
