I couldn’t smell for close to 40 years. I had surgery to correct it. I remember the first time I smelled a flower. It was a Gardenia. I about cried. I understand the shock of what a lot of these people feel. It is inspiring to watch.

Lost the ability to smell and taste for almost a month years ago because of an infection. World became grey without smell and taste. One day I woke up and I was able to smell and taste again and it was like being reborn.

For anyone who is curious, my dad still wears his Enchroma glasses. He's a traveling sales man, so he keeps them in his car. They help him see stoplights and brake lights -- something he still can't get used to. He also brings them to special occasions - vacations mostly. Anyone who loses their favorite sunglasses as often as he does will understand why he's so protective of them. We bought him an indoor pair, but they don't fit his head. :) So we're hoping Enchroma launches bigger sizes for their indoor glasses. To answer some of the questions y'all have asked in the comments - we live in Savannah, Ga., my dad will always be the man who uses a hunter's knife (even for scotch tape), his first car was a yellow corvette (hence the comment I made), and he has spent most of his life outnumbered by ladies, and although we're pushy, we love him like crazy. He is my Superman in every way that matters.

I've heard it takes about 15 minutes before the person notices a difference with the glasses. Did your dad find that to be true? And how did you go about figuring which glasses to get him? I was looking at getting a pair for my father and don't know what type of colour blindness he has, just that he has it, and don't want to ask him and tip off that I'm looking into the Enchromas...

If the indoor glasses are just a little too small and the frames are plastic, you can heat up the hinges of the stems by running them under hot tap water or with a hairdryer until the plastic softens and then adjust the fit before they cool and reharden.

Something I really appreciate about this guy is when he was able to see colors, he didn’t think of all the people with normal eyesight. He immediately thought of the people that had worse color-blindness than him. Which made him appreciate himself even more. We all should be following him.

I think the feeling of realizing how green the world is, is a moment everybody (also the non-colourblind) should experience some time in their lives. The earth is so beautiful, it's worth saving it.

This goes along with the abundance of green, but the biggest part is likely the colors constantly CHANGING and GLOWING with movement. Colorblindness is having issue seeing "shades" of specific colors. Example: The combination of sun and wind hitting the leafs in a tree causes a barrage of colors we take for granted. To a colorblind person I imagine it IS almost like seeing in black/white when looking at objects like that, until you put the glasses on. The trees/grass, etc. probably appear so bland and lifeless without seeing the color barrage.

I had that in a way, and i'm not even colorblind. i've just had lifelong depression, and i had one moment of piercing through it and honestly perceiving green as more green. It was psychological repression of color of some sort. I mean could certainly identify different colors as well as anyone. I was not actually colorblind, but I can relate to how this guy feels.

I've noticed a big theme. Certain colors catch people off guard, but most everyone is stunned by all the shades of green in nature. Sounds like the best place to do this is outdoors around a lot of greenery.

She's ran stop lights not knowing where the red was unless cars were in front of her. It's wild how these work. Some day there will be a surgery to correct this issue but having these glasses are amazing.

Hi. I'm from the Midwest, but now live in Georgia. I do think this is the prettiest part of America. I love it. The mountains are great too. You didn't even see how colorful it is. Yes, very green, but there is a lot more variety of trees, colors of insects, and flowers down here too. Kind of like the Rain Forest. So much more variety in color in everything in this area of NC and Georgia. The best. Africa is wonderful too, especially the wildlife!!! We have mountain lions and other wildcats here in the south as well. Not as many as Africa, but they are out there. I even came within ten and fifteen feet of both a mountain lion and a bobcat. I'm a woman, but a tomboy - outdoors girl. I was afraid but enjoyed at the same time. It wasn't safe. I just breathed, prayed and slowly got away. WOW! It was awesome being so close to those beautiful creatures, but scarry! I also had an eagle come full wing spread right in front of my Jeep Window, so less than a2 feet away That was incredible. ALL Nature is awesome. Enjoy the desert.

They shelled out for the really cool ones. Those look great! (I was starting to think they all looked like military bc glasses.) It’s amazing how Enchroma glasses emotionally impact these colorblind men. Love your entire family! I’m a USMC veteran & your dad is so reminiscent of my fellow Marines (to include my ex AND my son.) Stoic, in-charge, even his baldness! Beautiful property & house, too, ya’ll! Congratulations, dad!

Videos like these do a much better job of getting people to buy a product than a commercial ever could. And it doesn't even cost the enchroma company anything. He was amazed at how many shades of green there are but what really made me happy is when he spotted that Cardinal instantly. He said earlier in the video that he would like to see a cardinal now and he got his wish. I need to stop more often and just enjoy the world around me.

I'm from Wisonsin. I have lived in Georgia 14 years and 4 years in NC. I KNEW it was the South around here. I LOVE the south. The colors and variety of trees, flowers and insects is so colorful. Rocky Mountains is as close to Rain Forest as it comes in America. I've been to Colorado and The Alps. The NC Mountains (and North Georgia) and landscape is the most beautiful of all. I'm STILL amazed by it. I thought I must have died and gone to heaven when I got here. I had loved the mountains before. I was NOT prepared for how beautiful it would be. I didn't know about how rich the colors and variety were, or all the rich green. HEAVEN before HEAVEN. :) When I drove thorugh the Black Mountains, I litterally had to stop and look up to heaven to thank God. WOW! I bet your dad totally loved it when he saw the mountains and colors in the fall. Oh, my! You must all really love being able to share this together which such a beutiful and close family. I saw your mom tear up in the video. How sweet. You are very fortunate to have such a close family all devoted to one another. Make sure you choose a man for his heart and character, like your mom and dad.

You know what's funny? The manual mentions that how long it takes to see a difference is related to the plasticity of the persons brain. Basically how open minded they are. So whenever we see these dads and etc seeing a change right away it tends to be an indicative of a father with an open mind and way of thought. Almost directly related to them getting it from kids and people that love them! It's a sign of a great father.

Those nerves have nothing to do with personality. Plasticity isn’t a personality, it’s just a physical characteristic. Stop making stuff up that denigrates the personality of people who these don’t work on
