It's so important to emphasize that 50 wrote this after being shot 9 times and left for dead. This was one of the last highly anticipated rap albums, and this was an amazing track on what we know know was a classic.

The best part is right before 50 dropped this album, Jay-Z (who had the whole rap scene around his finger at that time) told all his artists to just put out as much content and songs as they could because, and I quote, “50 is coming, and we’re gonna just have to wait this wave out”. Just showing how raw his talent was. The fact that the king at that time recognized that 50 would take over the game and no one would be able to compete. Which he did and continued to do for multiple for multiple years

Yeah, The Black Album came out later in the year because of how hot 50 was earlier that year.

"He got hit like I got hit but he ain't fucking breathing" was one the first things one of my best friends said after he was shot in the head during a attempted robbery. he got lucky and saw one of the guys pulling a gun out of the corner of his eye it was the last thing he ever saw out that eye because bullet severed his optic nerve but he still managed to get off 3 or 4 shots dropping one of the guys where they stood and clipping the other. And that lyric was his simple answer when we asked what happened his mom filled in the full story.

We were all bumping the hell out of this in 03-04 no matter the age.

2003 was senior year high school and when this album dropped, it felt like no other rappers were on the scene, how quick these guys straight committed hostile takeovers. By the third day, people were busting out bars on the way to the next class. Lunch time was just the album blasting on cell phones. It was crazy.

This is truly amazing, 50 Cent might not get the credit for his lyricism but how he paints the picture for 2 white men to vividly get this story and feel it is pure genius. This is what music does... and I love it.

50 has accomplished a great deal in various avenues, but musically I don’t think he’s ever executed anything as masterfully as he did with this album. He had a couple of bangers on other albums, and some singles(+featuring), but this album was absolute insanity. He had Em in his corner, who helped thrust this diamond in the ruff into the spotlight, but 50’s prints were all over the masters and his raw story and hunger were unmistakable. The bars were abundant and poeticism, rich. One of my all time favorite albums, for sure.

Don’t know why this showed up but damn this brought me back. Such a classic. 90’s and early 2000’s will always be the best Rap.

Best American rap - yes! Mainstream rap in many parts of europe took that influence and have been refining it for 20+ years. American mainstream hip-hop is dead to me since forever, there is still many GREAT underground artists tho!

Many Men is like a thesis statement for 50 entering the rap game. Your dad connected to that 'I am trying to make it in this arena' energy. You find it on first albums alot, sometimes on 2nd. Your pops has some great insights about music. You guys should do Mos Def 'Umi says' one day.

Although I already knew this, and agree with this, one thing this comment made me think on is how much further we may be progressed if the world wasn't so terrible, not just when it comes to the US, but the entire world. How many Genius's have fallen through the cracks? Its a sad reality.

Prime era 50, early 2000’s 50 was something magical. Absolutely untouchable. His meteoric rise was something the likes of which we had never seen before.

I really like/admire the father, son relationship you guys have, very caring and authentic. It’s cool how the son is comfortable with sharing something that he really enjoys, and dad’s willing to listen with an open ear and mind. Come to find out, dad really likes this genre of music and has a pretty good understanding of the what’s being said.

I was in the Navy when “Get Rich or Die Trying” dropped. “Many Men” was one of the best songs on the album. Now look at 50. He’s hilarious online, is an excellent businessman & a huge figure in Hip-Hop still, all these years later. REACT TO “BLACK GIRL LOST” by NAS!! Pleeeease!

I actually saw 50 Cent's Get RIch or Die Tryin tour live. Funny story, I was suffering from seizures at the time and had one after the last opener. I recovered and returned to the arena floor just as 50 was about to come on stage. When he performed this, thousands of people were chanting the chorus along, in unision. Me included. Glad I didn't miss the show.

I can hear Pops walking thur the kitchen singing "Many men, many many many many men wish death pon me..." Mrs. Pops look up from the refrigerator like, babe everything ok... He gives her a quick look and sing, "Have mercy on my soul, somewhere my heart turn cold. Have mercy on me..." while walking out the door..

50 cent made a song called “u not like me” the first bar in the third verse is “the good die young I ain’t eligible for that” just another test of his powerful lyrics based on his life
