The 24 inch line is really clever. Not only were big chrome rims a really popular thing with rappers but he lists 24 ills in the third verse. Go to the lyrics and count them up. So an inch for every ill to make 24 inch chrome rims. The deeper meaning can be that while these rims are expensive and shiny and represent wealth and affluence they are built on the backs of these ills. Nice reaction 👌🏽

WTF? did Lupe say this? I wouldn't put it past Lupe to be this clever! But, I would lean towards it being a coincidence, especially if he was trying to line up the bars to fit. But I love how you always pick up something else every time you listen to his music.

@@hk45kh it’s possible, but I feel that’s the fun of being a Lupe fan. I remember he put a line “funny how I’m only sick if you never catch a thing, argue with your friends about what really the record means, back and forth about its course with professors refereeing” that was in light works from his friend of the people mixtape. So I think he tries to put a lot of effort into making things for us to find.

I believe this wholeheartedly. Who can write and rap as complex, poignant and masterfully? Kendrick comes close but can’t touch Lupe’s triple entendres. Aesop Rock is very complex but the lyrics can be too abstract to decipher because of it. Yeah Nas and Jay are generally regarded as the best all around but in terms of lyrical mastery Lupe is a 10th degree black belt.

Before watching I have to say thay this song is a masterclass in english lyricism. It doesn't go into the super hard metaphors or hard words most don't understand but it's simple in it's wide complexity. This is my personal favorite rap song of all time as a long hip hop fan. The song just goes together super smoothly and manages to touch so many poignant grievences of the world without becaming outdated and sounding effortless. I no lie listened this song last time in the span of 24 hours.

I might be biased (Chicagoan), but Lupe feels like 'the Kendrick that wasn't.' I don't know why he didn't pop off, but I wish he managed to take the stage like Kendrick and J. Great reaction! My interpretation of "sitting in chrome 24 inch wheels" was a continuation of his acknowledgement of his own hypocrisy. He knows all these horrible things are happening, but they aren't stopping him from participating in the system. He has another song on one of his older mixtapes where he raps about blood diamonds over the "Diamond Are Forever" beat and he says "you gotta know to be a hypocrite". One little recommendation - if/when you do Mural, you might want to use the *TimesNuRoman* youtube video AND the lyrics to follow along. The video does a great job of weaving the metaphors together, otherwise you will miss a lot of wordplay and double/triple entrendre on the first listen. Loving the song selection so far on the channel!

This was refreshing as hell, I can't lie. I usually watch reaction's to a lot of trap songs. But this took me back to when I first started enjoying music, my brother put me on to Lupe when I was around 13. Food & Liquor is classic too me, but The Cool is just on another level of hip-hop. Would love more Lupe content.

This was my first time hearing that song from Lupe fiasco. I loved it 💝I always listen to his first song that got popular (kick push) the skateboard song and the second song I listen to is ( if you are who you say you are a superstar the camera is here and have no fears) but this song definitely going put it in my playlist

Awesome reaction, so authentic! Love it! Lupe is very conscious, and his art is very underrated in my opinion. If you guys REALLY want your mind blown react to K-RINO (pronounced K Reeno).. Can almost choose ANY song..he has 50 albums!! Most underrated Lyricist ever if you ask me. Quite hard to suggest a particular song because he has SO MANY great ones. But PLEASE take time to consider his music..You will not look back once you start that journey.. Guaranteed! Maybe start with GRAND DECEPTION ...or THE SERPENT ...or maybe AINT IT FUNNY 👍🏼👍🏼

Yes YES! PLEASE react to K-RINO! Been rapping since the 80s He is not on commercial radio (his subject matter too serious for them to handle). His story telling ability unparalleled! His vocabulary.. his word play and metaphors and punchlines indescribable! SO many Great songs! Try "SOLITARY CONFINEMENT" or "THE CANVAS" ....I mean ANYthing by K-RINO, you'll love it, especially the more songs you hear! Keep up the great work guys, really enjoy your videos!

This is my first time watching you guys but I loved this video, its always great to see other people appreciating music I love. If you're gonna do another Lupe reaction I would recommend WAV Files, Madonna, or Put You on Game. Mural is an amazing song, a contender for the most lyrical song of all time, but I think it would be very hard to do a reaction video to it. It's just so long and jam packed with dense, complex lyricism and metaphors and it's really just impossible to take it all in and fully appreciate it on your first listen. Also if you're looking for other conscious hip hop I would love to see reactions to stuff like 'Mathematics' - Mos Def or 'Below the Heavens pt1' - Blu
