The idea of a remote control lawn mower honestly terrifies me, but it's also genius. I love the way you guys built that!

Two wheel drive and zero turn front tires would do the trick. Thanks for sharing the video 👍🏻

That's very cool! I like how your design is actually quite simple. I noticed that you don't have an updated video on this machine. Did you and your dad ever get it sorted? I'd love to see more!

To turn or do a neutral turn the tyres need to slip sideways so with grippy treads that’s not going to happen. It could also tear the turf to shreds. Maybe two wheel drive and castor pinions on the rear wheels may help. Hope it goes well whatever you do and I’ll be watching. I use a RoboMow RC304 robotic lawnmower and it works great but sometimes I think it has a mind of its own. Thank you, Colin

That looks awesome! You should rob the hydrostatic drive train from a riding mower. Nothing stronger than hydraulics. Mine is a great hill climber. It also will last forever! 10 years and mine works like new with no maintenance. Keep at it guys. So very jealous!

I've seen the commercial version of this using 4 motors That one was built with 4 corner steering, each corner was a vertical shaft to a 90 degree gearbox driving the wheels. The drive was through a tube that acted as the steering pivots. The neat thing was it could steer in all directions with crab, and counter steering. But it was $$$$$

Nice. Thinking of building something pretty similar, but with castor wheels on the front, and an FPV camera/transmitter on a gimbal.

Looks really good for a prototype. Now all you need are some sensors and a bit (ok, a lot) of code and you'll have a lawn roomba.

I have been BINGE watching your channel! So many fun projects!! Quite a few that I have also tackled or have been planning soon (we just bought a house with 2x the inside space and 3.5x the lot size) so I will actually have space to build bigger projects. Your dad sounds AWESOME! Mine had been out of doing anything car or "fun" garage related long before I was even a teenager. I now have teens of my own at 41 and try to get them into doing fun things! Not just for the experience and problem solving but at least for the memories! Wish I had you for a new neighbor! If you happen to be near North East Ohio and want to put a GM LSx engine in that boat (haven't found out if you still have that project yet, I'm working my way from the oldest videos to newest) let me know. I put a 6.0L LSx in my KIA Sorento SUV (videos on my other KZread channel) and she's a monster. Haha Keep up the great content and awesome projects!!

The memories are so important! And the hands on experience will show up in their lives later and have a positive impact on them! I take the 1970 Winnebago up that way once a year around the beginning of August near Mentor! There is a fellow there that host a vintage camping event and I have been going for years!

What size gas engine is that and does it run the mower deck good. I am debating on doing one this size or a smaller one. I have a 48" deck off a 318 already and I want to mow some really steep hill that are to steep for my JD 332 and getting to hard to weed wack because of the size of them. I would think stronger motors would allow it to turn like a bobcat, those are a lot heavier so I think a much bigger electric motor on each side would do it. I need 4wd because of the hills and the hills are my primary goal but if I use a full size deck I could do a lot more areas. I just do not know the HP needed to turn the deck. Do you have the alternator on the same belt that turns the deck, is there a clutch to engage the deck or it is always engaged to the deck. I looked for more for videos but did not see them.

You get it! The fun of the build! Dad built his because he wanted to trim the hills where he lived. I'll also add mowing with a remote control mower is just, fun! And once you build an RC version, your next step is to make it into a robotic mower. :)
