Astroworld is the third studio album by American rapper Travis Scott. It was released on August 3, 2018, through Cactus Jack Records and Grand Hustle Records, and distributed by Epic Records. The album follows his second studio album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), and his collaborative album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho (2017) with Quavo.
The album features guest vocals from The Weeknd, Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, Drake, James Blake, Philip Bailey, 21 Savage, Swae Lee, Gunna, Nav, Quavo, Takeoff, Juice Wrld, Sheck Wes, and Don Toliver, among others. Production was handled by multiple producers, including Scott himself, Mike Dean, Allen Ritter, Hit-Boy, WondaGurl, Tay Keith, Tame Impala, Frank Dukes, Sonny Digital, Murda Beatz, and Thundercat.
The album title is named after the defunct theme park Six Flags AstroWorld, which was located in Houston, Texas prior to its closure. Scott, a Houston native, aimed for the album to sound like "taking an amusement park away from kids". He also described the album as a continuation of his debut album Rodeo (2015). Astroworld is a hip hop and psychedelic rap album, incorporating elements of trap and psychedelic music. The album was supported by four singles, "Butterfly Effect", "Sicko Mode", "Yosemite", and "Wake Up".
Astroworld received widespread acclaim and performed well commercially, debuting atop the US Billboard 200 with 537,000 album-equivalent units, of which 270,000 were pure sales. It was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It won Album of the Year at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards. The album was named one of the best albums of 2018 and the decade by several publications.

I do believe Astroworld is more “heavenly” but I feel like Rodeo was more grand. Almost every track had this huge druggy soundscape feeling and every song (in exception to a few) were very aggressive and harsh in an amazing way. It was just songs back to back that could be played at concert where everybody would rage and go nuts for. In Astroworld, I feel like we see more of Jacques and not Travi$ because it’s a little softer. All in all, both albums will be classics and they both have similar and distinct elements that are amazing on the ears especially with headphones. Classics and Travis will definitely go down as one of the best artists.

The application of the album's concept is just spot on, you can't find two songs that sound the same yet they all share one theme, it's like every song is a different ride. This album is always going to hold a special place in my heart. I remember being a counsellor at a sleepaway camp. I didn’t listen to it the day it came out, but I remember 3 days later my supervisor took a bunch of staff out for a boat ride on the river we were set up by. Once we left the dock, he asked us all if we’ve heard astroworld yet and played it for us. We were going full speed on the water, at sunset listening to stargazing. I then remember we got stuck on a bank in the water, and I got in to try and move us out. Stargazing was still playing , but I was knee high in a body of water next to a boat, with the sunset just touching water while it was very still. I can’t quite explain it but I really did have an experience. That memory is forever going to be ingrained in my mind thanks to this album.

I love that this album sounds like a theme park from start to end, and it progresses like how you would in a theme park, starting off excited, hyped and then after a few tracks/rides you rest for awhile and that's where the slow tracks come in. and then you get back to the rides and have some more fun. at the end, coffee bean sounds like you're in a car, going home from a very fun day at the theme park. listening to Travis is all about the vibes, you don't listen to Travis for the lyrics, you listen to his production and flow, you listen to him to get hyped or to chill on the bed and that's what makes this one of my favorite albums!

This album has some of my favorite production ever. It's so damn good. The album has aged like fine wine.
As producer I just adore your father when he notice good panning, 808s, echos, delays and more off other effects, yours reactions are just way more unique then any other channel keep on going.

This is one of my all time favorite albums of all time! How this album takes you on a ride from start to finish! From Stargazing to coffee bean.. this is a album you love starting it you hate when it finishes Love to trav and the houston culture 🤞🏽
@44:59....The rant Kevin goes on here is so beautiful. Its a true display of someone beginning to appreciate something new. This kind of conversation is so niche. I feel conversations about music, and diving into your true feelings sonically are so fun. Dissecting the artist's intention and the genre's influences. Or just breaking down what ACTUALLY draws you in. I love it. I'm here for it. And I ain't going anywhere. Keep it up fellas. Edit: Also, when Kevin says "I feel it."....that's how you know you've passed the point of no return. You will forever search for that feeling listening to Hip Hop from now on.
I have so many memories with this album mannn. Going night swimming with the homies, driving home late at night with the crew just zoned out listening to RIP SCREW with no worries whatsoever, thank you for this you guys brought me back to one of my best summers 💙

What's so fantastic about Travis' production, and this may seem obvious to actual audio engineers, is his ability to lay a really solid and wide foundation with the lower end sounds, which opens up space for all the other more hi end shrill or strange sounds as well as the vocals which results in nothing sounding out of place. Everything he makes feels like it fits together because he sculpts it to fit together.

Screw the Grammys, y'all should be the ones figuring out who wins what. It's a Travesty (no-pun intended) that Travis lost to Cardi B. The effort he put into this album is on another level that most artists can't relate too. The knowledge of the instruments and sounds that you and your dad describe is something that is special since most of those things are overlooked by many people who listen to albums. Great review with fantastic dialogue and chemistry between you two. Well Done.

hear me out, but sicko mode. The perfect drake feature, the amazing switch-up after the beautiful instrumentation in the beginning into one of the most hard hitting 808s on a beat I’ve ever heard that Travis absolutely murders, some short gorgeous Swae Lee vocals, then another switch into a dark minimalistic Tay Keith beat with Drake going absolutely insane. Without the memes and dismissal it’s a 10/10 song and changed the game forever
