Dude from 69th St… 😂 I’m dying inside because I grew up a few blocks away, Cobbs Creek was my backyard. Then moved around from NE to Frankford to Port Richmond. Nice to see a reactor from the area! Our court and probation system is horrible. There are more people under supervision in Philly than in NYC (despite us having 1/10 the people). They can keep you on long stretches and I knew someone who got a technical violation because her phone broke on her way in to work 3-11PM. She bought a new phone the next morning and called to change the number but her PO violated her for “changing contact information without prior notice”. Or over absurd amounts of “court costs and fines”. But when they lock you up then you lose your housing, job, etc and then are back where you started. It’s absolutely insane. Another crazy thing is that you can be violated over being charged with a new crime even if you are later found not guilty. A guy did 10 years in jail and tbf t gave him 5 years probation. He gets out and while at his sisters the cops arrested his nephew and when he spoke up about the level of force being used a cop grabbed a bundle and pushed it into his chest and said “you can come with us too”. His back judge violated him and revoked his sentence sending him to lose all credit for his charges and start over. Later the charges were dropped because they proved it was police misconduct. But it didn’t matter because the other judge already found him “guilty”. It’s a set up. Plain and simple.
