she just felt so upside down in this stage of life. that’s why the album cover is upside down. she was “floating” through a great chunk of it

in my opinion, thank u next is her strongest album by far. she’s been through so much between macs death, the manchester bombing, broken engagement, etc, and i feel like she was able to turn all that trauma into a beautiful reflection of how trauma and pain breed toxic tendencies

Ariana has a few behind the scenes videos from the studio and she is such a genius when it comes to layering vocals and coming up with harmonies. Def give them a watch

Judging off of what was said here, I have a feeling that Mike might enjoy her first 2-3 albums the most. For me personally, though I love everything she’s put out, those albums are my sweet spot for Ari. Something about the classic vocals, which are showcased a little more as a whole, with each album gaining a little bit more pop influence. The mix of well thought-out love songs with these undeniable pop masterpieces is just so addicting, and it really highlights, for one, how great she was from the start, but also how fast she grew into this unstoppable pop star!! Can’t wait to see more!! 🔥

i feel like this probably wasn’t a good album to introduce ariana to him to😂 this was her experimental album and she wasn’t belting as much like he thought she would.

a fun fact about her album cover and the reason why it's upside down is because she recived the photo upside down and liked it, and the song No tears left to cry played with this upside down feeling, so she thought was a perfect choice to make it upside down. And not only the cover was upside down but the whole era, she wrote things upside down, her merch and all this stuff. Sweetener is an upside down era.

Ariana mentioned her being upside down represented a time in her life where everything felt “upside down” also relating to the music video of “NTLTC” upside down was sorta the theme 🤍

Off topic but I love your dads shirt! Back on topic, this is my favorite Ariana album too! Thanks for getting his reaction. While I love her harmonies, I understand what he’s saying about preferring her voice alone. Her voice is so beautiful and unique and it’s something so special to hear her pure voice on its own. I think maybe once he’s heard more of her by itself he can appreciate her harmonies more.

yeah I like her earlier albums with R&B pop flavor which showcases her vocals more. It suits her well IMO.

It's so weird having your dad compare dua lipa to Janet Jackson, when the main critique of her was her dancing and stage presence. It really is a testament to how hard she's worked to improve both those qualities. And of course, everytime was one of his fave tracks, there's just something in that song that calls to me lmfao.
