You so need to see the explanation video to this! This song is called the Queen for a reason! This has a lot of references to the Tragic Sewol Fairy incident in 2014 when close to 300 people losing their lives and most of them were students on a field trip! There’s a lot of controversy over that incident! It will break you’re heart!

Spring Day is not BTS's most viewed song, but it remains on the Korean charts for the longest time. It has become an anthem, as it talks about love, longing and the loss of a friend. Since 2017 until today. It achieved an unprecedented feat: 6 years after being released, it reached first place on Itunes - USA, when Jimin, Jk, V and RM entered military service and the entire Army cried missing them. This winter only ends in 2025!

Hi LD, I'm a 58 year old Army mom. I became an Army trying to help my 2 daughters deal with the loss of their grandmother, my mom. They had been trying to get me to watch BTS with them for months. As a person who loves lyrics, I was not interested in music I couldn't understand. I noticed the only time they weren't crying or down was when they were watching BTS. So, I asked them to tell me about BTS. We all lived in my bedroom to support each other for 1 week straight. All we watched, listened to, and talked about was BTS. I had managed to help my girls through a very difficult time. What I didn't realize was how much BTS had also helped me. That was 6 years ago, and we are still and forever will be a House of Army. BTS definitely found me when I and my girls needed them most. At that time, my girls were 22 and 29 years old. I'll never forget Mother's Day 2019. We went to the BTS concert in Chicago! Can't wait for 2025! 💜 Just wanted to share my story after watching your Spring Day reaction. Sorry it's so long.

You need an explanation video to understand the MV, to get the Sewol Ferry tragedy references, the nods to the movie Snowpiercer, and the Ursula Leguin story, and so much more. The video is beyond deep.

Spring day is actually tied to the Korean Ferry disaster. Over 300 school children died on a ferry boat that sunk. They were told to stay in their cabins while the boat sank. The crew abandoned the boat and let them all drown. They crew went to prison.

⁠@@Kahli21 Yes, only the MV is tied directly to the Sewol. During an interview with Esquire Magazine in 2020, when Spring Day’s message was brought up, Jin stated: “It is about a sad event, like you said, but it is also about longing”. So yes, they hinted very subtly that it is about the Sewol.

Spring Day is probably the most important song in BTS’s entire catalog. Please watch the explanation video by the Italian ARMY. This song has never left the Korean charts in the entire seven years since it was released. It also landed them on former President Park’s infamous blacklist.

I lost my mom in October of last year. This song makes me cry 😢 every time, but it also comforts me as I'm still processing it emotionally.

Yes Spring Day hits on so many levels. As a 2014 ARMY I of course knew what it was connected to and had mad respect for that. But I believe it was Jin that said it is also open to personal interpretation. It wasn't until I broke down the Korean translation of the song and the chorus is interpreted just as I miss you but in Korean the word also means I want to see you. What is more heart breaking than not ever being able to see that person again? For me it is my husband. It's been 11 years but that song didn't hit me hard until this year when on the anniversary of his passing it randomly came on as I passed the spot we met. I totally broke down then. RM explains it as not just about loss bur also the longing. That's the key. And that it's ok if you carry that person in your heart forever. I also get Yoongi's part about the momentary hate you can feel at feeling abandoned even when it wasn't their fault.

It's coming up on the first anniversary of my Mom death. June 18th. Her and I would watch this and think of Dad that died only a few months before I lost her. I sat her watching and crying. It's never going to heal. But, I had the joy of having them both in my life. This song just hits different now. BTS is not just music.....it's a ride of upbeat, emotional of highs and remembering lows. Society, depression, self love and just some fun. Many of us say, YOU FIND BTS WHEN YOU NEED BTS.

My condolences ,I lost my twin brother I 2015 and while for me now it's getting easier I know my grief will not truly go away. I went through all the emotions this song talks about . I am so sorry for your loss and share your emotions... because sadness isn't the only one, but BTS seems to always have a song that gets to me and helps. June 25th is the first anniversary of my mom's death. BTS will forever have my heart! 💜

The explanation video is a must watch! This song has a very tragic story behind it

Spring Day personally reminds me of when I was in NYC on 9/11, and my dance studio was two blocks from the World Trade Towers. Need I say more? It also reminds me of many other loss situations. This is why they are kings...they have such range in their emotional language and interests. This song is considered the Queen of all their songs. So stately and majestic. What BTS does that I love is make work that is metaphorically so rich, people can experience catharsis over many life issues through one of their songs. It doesn´t tell you how you should feel about anything too specific, but leaves space to have a good cry if you need to. Or whatever. Other serious but fabulous songs by BTS are Film Out, Dead Leaves, Hold Me Tight, Let Me Know, Outro TEAR. And when you are ready, you must listen to Suga´s SNOOZE, a stunning, stunning work of art. You´re the best, Nesto. You´re nice, keep going.

7 years and it has never left the charts. I cry each time I watch or even hear it knowing the tragedy. I watched all the documentaries on “The Sewal Tragedy” and now can really relate even more to the parents for my daughter passed very recently and am still in mourning. Bts music has comforted me at my lowest times and I will need and love them forever in my life. They have saved me many times 😥

This song always makes me emotional. It makes me think of the tragedy which leads to me missing my son that passed away 27 years ago last month. He would have been 28 in August. Now I am watching my mom go through dementia and as her care worker and daughter I have to watch as I lose her a little more each day and with the memories of her going through the same with my grandmother. I know from that I don’t have much time left with her. Having to watch my son going through chemo, radiation and a bone marrow transplant before he was even 9m old only to lose him 2 weeks after transplant which seems fast but at the time it felt like it was years long. I love that they took this risk at such an early time in their career that is still such a blessing going on 10 years later. I don’t know how I could have made it though these last few years and now with my mom. They are my safe and happy space I go to when I need a minute to just cry and smile. This song is about loss and it was produced by Suga who had lost his best friend he also wrote a song in his D-Day album about this friend, both songs are very emotional songs. This song though also has a connection to the Sewol Ferry Disaster that involved children being lost at sea because of negligence of adults, that should have been protecting them. You need to watch the Explanation video behind Spring Day. I suggest the Italian Army's version. What I find so admiral about BTS is that their company and all the members donated to the families of the victims. They did it anonymously. At the time they came out with this song Artists were being Black Listed if anyone said anything negative about the government.

This song originally was written in regards to loss of a friend. The MV however also is a commentary on a tragedy that took place in South Korea in April 2014, the sinking of the Sewol Ferry. There is a very good explanation video by Italian Army for the Spring Day MV and it also has real footage of the tragedy. It will make you cry and angry too, but it explains it all well. No matter how many times I see Spring Day I cry. Love your heartfelt reactions.

Spring Day really is the queen of all songs. A song I will forever remember no matter how old I get. I lost my dad when I was only 16 years old, back in 2010. I also lost two other people that same year. When i lost my dad, i went completely silent and was just going through the motions of life. Until one day in 2014 when I found BTS for the first time. The first time i ever heard them, i cried because music is a very special memory I always had with my dad. When he died i stopped listening to music because all i did was cry. But then when BTS found me, I cried and felt such a relief. Then a few years later when spring day came out, it became my forever healing song. A song I connect with to all my love ones that I have lost and my connection with BTS whenever we are separated such as during covid and now military enlistment. Spring day will forever be the deepest impact type of song that will always be near and dear to my heart.

BTS has a song for every mood you can think of. Their music has pulled me out of the deepest darkest holes I've been in. This is one of those songs that just hit deep, even deeper if you've watched the explanation of the video

As a father you’ll be torn apart by the explanation video created by the Italian ARMY, but it shows a side of BTS we all love and admire so much. 😢🥹💜 The sinking of the Sewol ferry was horrific and this video has been a comforting outstretched hand from the boys to all the victims, survivors, and their families. Though the song was written about missing friends who were left behind when they began to make it big, the video was made as a homage to them.💜💜💜

I've been ARMY since before ARMY had a name I'm original ARMY Spring Day is one of my favorite songs. The meaning is so much deeper and more touching than people realize I encourage you to watch the videos explaining the meaning. You don't have to react to them but I encourage them for education and context. This song is so deep and has so much meaning about life, death, pain, healing, moving forward.

This song holds such a special place in my heart. My second tattoo was inspired by it - a cherry blossom vine wrap for the line “maybe it’s cherry blossoms”. It reminds me that no winter or dark time lasts forever but also no spring can last forever either so understand that the hard times and the good times will both pass so embrace the good moments for all they’re worth and remember that the darker moments will end in beautiful spring. I struggled with clinical depression for most of my life and BTS was the catalyst for me actually going and getting help and support for it. It’s because of them that I’m still here to fight through the sad moments and celebrate the beautiful ones. I’m not going to be cheesy and say they saved my life with their openness on mental health, but they helped me start my own journey of healing and they’ve been with me every step of the way since 💜

So for context I became ARMY Feb 10th 2021. As I was learning about BTS my journey brought me to Spring Day on the 26th of Feb 2021. Now the reason the date is so important is that day would've been my mom's 73rd bday but sadly she passed Feb 2nd 2002. So as you can see Feb is an important month for me when it comes to my mental health. The fact is that up until when I found Spring Day I had yet to actually mourn my mom's passing. It's just never been the right time to deal with it. As I listened to Spring Day I realized that BTS had written the emotions I had buried about my mom's passing into a beautiful song with beautiful choreograph. It was Tae's line "You know it all. You're my best friend" that opened the flood gates & I had never cried for her loss hard than I did at that moment but it was so healing. Now I see the song as a beautiful reminder that I will meet my loved ones again on my Spring Day.

The live version at the Busan concert is very emotional, as they knew it would be their last one until they all could get back together after their military service is complete. You can see the emotion in their faces when they are inside the train looking out at ARMY in the audience.

This song is so deep...I lost a dear friend, my best friend and my mom within 6 months of each other so this song hits me deeply as well.

It speaks of loss and nostalgia but also of moving forward, of hope despite the changes in life, learning to accept them, of achieving resilience For the music video they wanted to pay tribute and at the same time denounce the events that occurred during the sinking of the Sewol Ferry... that is why this song has a special place for the people of Korea and Army I definitely recommend watching the Italian Army video, I think it is the most complete Regards from Mexico 💜

The verse Suga wrote was talking about a friend he hadwhen he was younger.the friend went in a.bad way.I think drugs,so Suga had nothing to down th him again but still hurts him.

Another song that got me though my own biggest loss was promise by jimin... I heard it for 4 hours every night on loop for a month to be able to sleep and work the next day. The power of music never cease to amaze me.❤

This song always hits me in the feels. Some days harder than others. Also this song became sort of like an anthem after a tragic ferry accident in Korea that killed many people including kids. My heart goes out to the parents of the kids everyone I think of it. Learn more by watching explanation videos for this mv. The song was released prior to the accident but a lot of thought went into the mv and it fits so well with the way people felt.

You are right, as we get older, unfortunately, we lose more and more of the people who touch our lives. I have lost both parents now and miss them so much. RM said that he wrote the song while thinking about a friend he was missing. The MV has a much deeper meaning. Please watch the explanation video by Italian Army. BTS took a risk against the corrupt government, subtley showing support for the families of the Sewol ferry disaster. It is heart-wrenching to watch but shows the ethics of the members and Big Hit. The suggestions for Your Eyes Tell (no MV but there is a live, search for live version with Eng subs) and Attack on Bangtan (live also) is excellent!

The best explanation video, that goes in depth is from a channel called, Italian Army. She talks fast, so it is best to play it at .75 speed, and pause or rewind, to be sure you get it all. Watching the video without the explanation video, you are only going to understand about 5% of the video- yes, it is that deep and symbolic. Believe it or not, but even with it being released in February of 2017, this song is so important to the Korean ppl that even to this day, "Spring Day" is still on the charts in Korea. It holds a special place in my heart, as of this past May 6th marked the 10th anniversary of my mom's passing. I still miss her every single day. This song helps so many of us, in so many different ways, for different reasons. They are very good at that. They know how to write songs that speak to our heart and souls. And I know for me, the music itself drew me in to them, but it's their lyrics that had me, hook, line, and sinker. Many people are very excited and I’m happy you checked this out. The song is about loss but not necessarily the ferry. RM and Suga lost a lot of friends and not necessarily to 💀 but just due to the path they took. That was where the SONG came from. Now the video is about the ferry and yes please do the Italian Army’s video. I also know they write so that it can mean many things but I just want you to understand.
