@@lisam8044 When I was a kid and heard about someone (a stranger) dying in their forties, it didn’t seem like a big deal because they were so old. Now that I’m 61 I realize how very young it is for someone to die. I’m so sorry your dad didn’t get to enjoy his dream job and then retirement, as well as seeing you and any siblings you have come into your own and start careers and families. I’m sorry you missed out on having an adult relationship with him and being able to ask him for advice or even questions about the family background that you don’t think about when you’re young. Thank you for reminding others who read your comment that nothing is guaranteed in life - even life itself. Blessings.

I’ve been listening a lot to John Delony (has a show on youtube) and he talks a lot about how we choose to be lonely and we don’t have to. I used to scoff and call BS, that if you don’t have bio family you never will have a family which really isn’t true. it’s hard to start to be proactive to meet new people but it’s possible with a little self confidence and hard work

Clearly one doesn't need to have kids to know this was a special moment but when parents raise kids over some 20ish years and they all more or less scatter after reaching adulthood when the opportunity for them all to be together for an occasion it's bound to hit home for the parents in a very powerful way. I think one needs to realize that the bond between parent and child is unique and special. In any event I stand by my original statement. My apologies if it gives offence.

I don’t think most Americans criticize the families living together…it’s just the opposite…most wish their families lived much closer. My adult daughters all live within a 45 min ride…we all go to the same church, I see them all the time. It will be harder as the grandkids get older tho…college and families later. But I know my daughters will do all they can to take care of me and my husband as we get older…just like we will as my mom gets older. She’s 85 and doing great rn. But when she doesn’t, we will take care of her💕

    Жыл бұрын

@@Boogs.310 oh well yeah I hadn’t thought about your point about ppl living at home with their parents. I was thinking about elderly relatives living with us. But I agree with you that that really isn’t “normal” UNLESS there are special considerations like the child maybe has health or mental health/developmental issues OR they are trying to finish college and keep their expenses low, saving up to get married…something like that. I was thinking about elderly parents for the most part when I wrote my comment. If a kid is able to work and that sort of thing, I think it can be(although not always the case) enabling them, in an unhealthy way, if they stay under the parents roof for too long. It’s almost like they are being babied, and in the long run, that doesn’t help kids become adults. Parents won’t be around forever to help them. I think it’s fine for “short-term” if kids have hit a rough patch…after my divorce I had 3 little kids and I stayed with my parents until I could get a job, reliable transportation(dad even helped me there), and eventually they helped me with housing(initially. But I was going back to nursing school so I could stand on my own, and they helped me tremendously. In turn, I helped my oldest daughter when she chose to go to Cali to college for a year(we lived on the east coast). I helped with her rent and food and transportation. Also my twins stayed with me until one got married and the other went away to college. They both lived at home and went to community college to save expenses. Then the one got married, her husband supported her thru her last two years(he had already graduated), and the other went away to Bible college her for her last two years. Even tho it was really hard on me(terrible empty nest!) I knew in the long run, they needed and were ready to get on their own. To this day, they do not ask us for anything and they BLESS us all the time! Also we let my step daughter and her husband and three kids live with us for 6 months when they were moving here from another state…until they were able to get on their feet. So I def think short term is much healthier. But there are exceptions! But as far as my mom, yep we would keep her at our home in order for her to not have to go to a facility….unless we were not able to bc of health reasons, but I know my kids and my brother would step up in that case. I totally get your point as well, so I wanted to clarify.❤️

Wow I teared up when I saw this loving dad’s reaction to having his daughters all together. You can just feel his love and how he deeply cares for them. I couldn’t hold back my tears at his heart for them and thanking the Lord that way 😢❤ Sadly, narcissistic and sociopathic men do not show love to their daughters as a dad should. A man who has no heart will never connect like a normal dad should with his daughters. Please be careful who you marry. 😢😮A man with a complex of completely selfish, self-centered mindset and a cruel, hard heart is a devastating thing to be brought up by. I pray God will be my 3 daughters loving Father ❤❤❤and I pray they find a loving husband when they grow up who can start a new family legacy of a loving earthly father for their children. 🙏🏼❤️🥰

It was the 1st time this had happened since she left her country, Nevis, to seek a better life for them in America, 30+ years before. They came from as far as San Diego & Las Vegas & assembled in NYC. Truthfully, it was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever witnessed. She was in her glory. She was Queen for a day & was glowing with the happiness of a mother's pride. I was so happy for her.
