This practice was for an award show. They often wear these nametags. It's usually for the producers and camera crew of the show, so they can plan camera angles, movements etc accordingly. I guess it's easier when they have the tags for reference. 😊

An adorable daughter. Yes it's a special dance practice for BTS. It's Suga not RM that drops the mic but I love that part. It's like an exclamation mark at the end.

RM said at one time all the crew didn’t know them that good so they wore name tags for identification during practice.

If I'm not mistaken this is MMA dance practice so they had many back up dancers so the name tags are easier to identify them by staff at the awards. This is also the original korean mic drop produced by PDogg, Steve Aoki produced the English version remix you watched before :)

The jerseys are the names of each member - because the large printing is way faster and easier than having to identify a member by their face (for example), they are worn to be obvious identifiers of each member as well as their position in the choreography. The large size of the name is critically quickest for when they are planning blocking and framing for their camera angles and positioning for both awards shows and videos. Also, oftentimes when a member cannot attend a certain day, not feeling their best or should be resting, etc., backup dancers will play the missing members role/position wearing the absent member's jersey so as the rehearsals and plannings can still carry on.

@@pameladavis45 They're singing in Korean here, not Japanese - this is the original Mic Drop version (pre-Steve Aoki remix). You can catch some Korean words like hajima, eobseo, uri tak, mianae/bianae, eomma... ☺

This is the original Korean version. The mv was the Steve aioki remix. There’s also a Japanese version and a Desiigner version. The dance break can be inserted into any version.

I can't say for certain why they still wear the name signs, however they used them as recently as when they were rehearsing for Grammys 2022 Butter performance. While JK & JHope were recovering from covid, other dancers took their place in the practice and wore their signs, so they still come in handy!

I like this version better than the MV. I would give this an 11 on a scale of 1-10😂😂. Them body rolls are awesome and when JK and Jimin jump out it’s chef’s kiss. That was Suga who drops the mic. Baby girl is the cutest little thing. My Bias is JK/Hobi but V is stealing my heart no he has stolen my heart right behind Hobi. I like them all though. V is irrisitable 💜💜💜. He is cuteness overload just adorable. I’m so happy baby girl feels better.

Mostly these days they do it not for the camera crew who know them by sight now but for mostly back up dancers and choreographers that are not in house to mark where they are during the dance. They used to say we will wear these name tags until everyone knows our names. Everyone knows their names now, but they still wear it for dancers that don't know where they need to be it's easier if you know where you are in proportion to the mains.

I’ve always felt the extra dancers help to cover SUGA when he goes to the back to switch his very expensive mic for a fake to drop!! If you watch closely, he & one of the dancers sure look like they do a quick switch. Love it!! Btw - your baby girl is absolutely adorable!🥰

When you get a chance you should watch the mic drop “moving version” dance practice, it’s the original choreography but the camera moves with them which makes for another great experience.

Yes the name tags are for identification. Even at the time of mic drop not everyone who would have been part of the production would have known them each by sight. This just made it easier. Also, sometimes if one of the guys needed to step away for something then a stand-in would wear the name of the person they were filling in for. This is just the final version of the practice they uploaded... but they did this for many hours and many days before it was recorded. Producer Bang (Hitman Bang) that created the group would watch the films and go frame by frame to make sure everyone was in synch and to change anything that needed to be changed. Initially he was just going for a regular Hip-Hop Idol group... but as they developed he pushed for it to be what they call an "over performance" group that has smashing and completely in synch choreo. And that IS what first caught many peoples' eyes... and then they heard the lyrics... .and BAM. A lot of people critize Bang Si-hyuk for many things... but his vision for BTS was spot on. And BTS has nothing but good things to say about him. Also it was him that insisted that the music came from their own life experiences and inner selves. PD Bang is a musician himself and once performed as well. Eventually they were well enough known not to need it. You can see this is one of their early rented studio spaces before Big Hit had enough money for their own spaces. The ceiling was often too low for them to fully do some of the jumps. It was actually a dance practice that first caught my attention in 2014 and the practice room then was even smaller and they shared it with other companies. After my husband died I had pretty much rejected music because it was something we shared. If it had just been a performance video I might have skipped it.... but it was their dance practice that made me stop and pay attention... especially Jimin.... and it's how music came back into my life.

I teach HS science and when we study the brain in my junior/senior Anatomy class we discuss the impact of music (dos & don'ts) on learning and how it can help. I now even use Amygdala as an opener to the unit.l on the limbic system. So I knew how important music was but couldn't bear it until BTS busted their way through to me and brought it back. I am forever grateful to them.

Thank goodness baby ARMY Capri is feeling better. Love their dance practices. Especially the Halloween versions they have. Capri will love those💜I also recommend the vocal line “Truth Untold” and “House of Cards” live versions. These guys do not disappoint.

I love this dance practice because it is phenomenal, in the choreography and in the performance, but also because it is the original track, and not the Steve Aoki remix. I LOVE the remix, too, but the original track just hits so hard, and I think it matches the choreography better. A lot of reactors new to BTS often assume that Steve Aoki had more of a role in creating the song, when he really had an amazing track to begin with. Again, I LOVE the remix, but the original, especially with RM rapping more in Korean, is an absolute killer track. Great reaction. 8? 😲😉

Enjoyed this! 💜😊🫰 Not sure if you noticed, but the audio for this is the original audio, not the remix. The primary difference that I notice is that the remix has more English and the original has instrumentation that either is not in the remix or I just don't hear it in the remix. I'm not sure what instrument it is, but I'd love it if it was a haegeum. I have a theory. If I remember correctly, Suga wrote, or started to write, Haegeum a while ago. If you haven't seen it yet, the guys are big into obscure spoilers. Drives ARMY crazy. 😂 My theory is that Suga used the haegeum (instrument) in random songs over the years. Black Swan being another song that might feature the instrument. I'm not a musician, so I could be totally wrong, but it would be cool if he had done that.
