CHANA DAL HALWA | - One of the most comforting desserts, especially for us Indians and Pakistani , is Halwa, agree? Be it with vegetables, lentils or just about anything, perfecting the sugar treatment is key to any dessert. And what better than a Halwa to prove it
Recipe in English:
INGREDIENTS FOR CHANA DAAL HAWAL
-Chana daal (Split Bengal gram) 2 Cups (soaked overnight)
-Doodh (Milk) 3 Cups
-Ghee (Clarified butter) ½ Cup
-Ghee (Clarified butter) 4 tbs (add gradually 2 tbs at a time)
-Sugar 1 Cup or to taste
-Elaichi powder (Cardamom powder) ½ tsp
-Pista (Pistachios) sliced 2 tbs
-Badam (Almonds) sliced 2 tbs
-Pista (Pistachios) sliced
-Badam (Almonds) sliced
Directions:
-In a wok,add split bengal gram,milk,mix well & bring it to boil,cover partially & cook on low flame until tender (30-45 minutes) then cook on high flame until it dries up.
-Let it cool.
-In a chopper,add boiled lentil,gradually add milk & chop well.
-In a wok,add clarified butter & let it melt. Add Cardamom powder.
-Add lentil paste,mix well & cook on medium flame for 15-20 minutes or until it leaves the sides of the pot & mix continuously.
-Gradually add clarified butter (2 tbs at a time),mix continuously & cook on low flame until it changes color (15-20 minutes).
-Add sugar,cardamom powder,mix well & cook on low flame until sugar melts (10-12 minutes).
-Add pistachios,almonds,& mix well.
-0n a greased tray,lined with butter paper,add halwa mixture & spread evenly.
-Sprinkle pistachios,almonds,press gently & let it rest for 10 minutes.
-Cut into diamond shape.
-Let it cool completely on room temperature & serve!

-Karahi mein chana daal aur doodh dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur ubal anay k bad partially cover ker lein aur halki ancch per gul janay tak paka lein (30-45 minutes) phir tez ancch per sukh janay tak paka lein.
-Thanda ker lein.
-Chopper mein boiled daal aur thora thora ker ka doodh shamil karein aur ache tarhan chop ker lein.
-Karahi mein ghee dal ker melt ker lein. Or Elaichi powder shamil kr dain.
-Daal paste dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur darmiyani ancch per 15-20 minutes ya pot ki sides choray tak paka lein aur musalsal mix kertay rahein.
-Thora thora ker ka ghee (2 tbs at a time) shamil karein aur musalsal mix kertay hoye halki ancch per color change ho janay tak paka lein (15-20 minutes).
-Cheeni,elaichi powder dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur halki ancch per cheeni ghul janay tak paka lein (10-12 minutes).
-Pista,badam, dal ker ache tarhan mix karein.
-Greased tray (lined with butter paper) per halwa mixture dal ker evenly pheela lein.
-Pista aur badam dal ker gently press karein aur 10 minutes kliya rest dein.
-Diamond shape mein cut ker lein.
-Room temperature per thanda ker lein & serve karein!
