    Hi Micke. I really love your videos. this time here we are in DA 42... Always top quality and very documented video... a pleasure to fly virtually with you... with you two... I noticed that you cut the motors "before" the electronics. is this normal procedure? the more time passes and the more I love the Diamonds.... thank you for sharing and can't wait to see what's next. Fly safe. Patrick LFPO.✈✈👍👍

  • @MickeLang

    @MickeLang

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you Patrick☺️ Yes this is a normal procedure. Think about it the different way. Without electricity for the starter, you could not get the engine running. Handstarting is not possible due to the higher compression ration of a diesel engine compared to a gasoline engine. Very good question 😉

  • @isapat3

    @isapat3

    @@MickeLang Thanks for your reply Mick. but I meant, why do you cut the motors "BEFORE" cutting the electronics? On my checklist (C172), we cut the electronics "BEFORE" cutting the engine to protect the electronics from any overvoltage when the engine stops... can't wait for the rest... Fly safe..✈✈😉😉

    You should think in a way to keep your head warm in case you end in the water. Feet are not so important but you can lose a lot of body heat by your head, but the rest is really well thinked.

    MIcke, watching Steve's video, he suggested we come watch yours. So, I have a question for you. You were talking about using the LPV or ILS approaches as a reference for your landings, even thought they were visual approaches. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn' the G1000NXI now have a 'Visual Approach' option under the Approaches? It may not in Europe, I don't know, but it was my impression that it was automatically generated based on a 3º glide slope from the touchdown area of the runway selected.

  • @MickeLang

    Hi Gary, good catch there! Correct. This has to be certified in/with the particular aircraft too and the Diamonds do not have it until now. ☺️

    @@MickeLang thank you very much! As I said, I've been watching Steve's videos, but I'm really glad that you also are providing video of the trip. I guess this happened in 2020? Either way, it's been really great to watch you guys and like I said to Steve, IF I had my medical back, IF I was flying again, IF i had both my instrument and multi ratings (A U.S. pilot), and the biggest IF of all, IF I could afford and was looking for an airplane, the DA42 VI would most likely be the airplane that I would want to own. I do wish Diamond would offer the option to have the AE330s in the DA42, just for 10 more knots of airspeed. :) This is such a great airplane, and I really love all the videos on it, and watching both channels on this flight with these airplanes is awesome. Do you know if Diamond is going to replace the three analog backup gauges with three Garmin GI-275s? Thank you for the reply.
