This is an incredibly helpful video, as other comments mention there is not much out there regarding material creation, particularly in D5. Also, your careful breakdown of each step is what separates this tutorial from many others. THANK YOU! Always see videos about renderings that focus on composition and stuff and rarely about the technical stuff like material management. Imo this stuff is much harder to figure out and has a bigger impact.

You're welcome! I 100% agree with that, composition and style wouldn't get you far if you haven't mastered the essentials like materials and lighting

Thank you so much for this, it's incredibly difficult to find good tutorial videos for rendering programs or any architectural / design program for that matter. I've been driving myself crazy using D5 x ArchiCAD as the syncing of materials between the two is frustratingly finnicky sometimes. I love D5 (it's way better than the built in CineWare engine ArchiCAD has), but it can be a pain :P You explained everything very nicely, and as an interior design student who is new to these programs - I appreciate it! You have a new subscriber :)

The problem is that you would want a rendering program that simplifies your life, not complicates it. Here you have to invert a lot of images and last but not least, own photoshop and know how to use it, in short, a never-ending circle.

Unreal engine 5.1

The biggest problem of D5 is hardware requirements. I am able to run Twinmotion (with all of its crushes), Enscape, modern games on mid settings but D5 just does not run at all because my graphics adapter is not supported.

I don't understand the difference between specular and clear coat, both are for shine, isn't it the same to use only specular?

in d5 2.4 the normal map slot has an option to INVERTED map... it works to only click this option instead of inverting the green channel in Photoshop?

It does not. Because using it will invert the whole image direction, so the green channel will be corrected but the other channels will be opposite and incorrect

Base color let you choose a solid color while the base color map let you import a map. Note that the the base color will be multiply on top of the base color map as well so you can use them both at the same time if you'd like

@@ArchitectureInspirations Ah, I see. The switch for base color and base color map is only for the first field "color"! Not for those following fields Specular, Roughness below. That was why I wonder.

The local material thumbnails is not showing for me (9:00). Why? Doing a rendering every time to load the thumbnail from the disk folder is very cumbersome and uncool.
