I’m a big fan of this build. Works great and more fun to play than regular smiter.

I did a 2h zealot/foh version of this build,as an excuse to squeeze the most i could out of a perfect eth ribcracker. Im an old-school player and cant let go of my love for it haha. With gores and a damage/res jewel gface i had 100%cb. Fully synergized 100%ctc holy bolt, casting foh on swap with a pally cta and spirit. He was a good chaos farmer, crush crowds with a few fohs and then whack the remnants to death with my staff. Used a might/pride merc, and hated phys immunes until i tried out reapers over the ribby. Its so fn good.

Really really really like this new series of yours GGM.

Rolling the build this season, it works out really great! Just need to find Astreons, havnt had any luck finding it 🙂

Just started playing this game again for the what 50th time. 6k plus hours, I'd say I have close to in my lifetime. Got it free on console and was like screw it. Let's go start again. Gonna give this build a shot for the fun of it. I personally love foh for chaos runs. So a little more fun kicking ass with smite is cool.

This is my Favorite of all time. Dueling with a hybrid has always been my thing lol. many many nights on one of these

Heavens Light is a decent option for the weapon, has +3 all skills with 33% CB. Obviously it doesn't have the +damage on it but it's a nice item to use until you can get a Astreons.

yes, also the Redeemer likewise has the skills and grief damage but not the CB

Used this last season loved it ended up using plague meditation and prayer for group heal and mana over hoto for my foh part my group was happy with infinite mana and like 100 health a second. And heavens light with 2 shales in it for smite.

This is an awesome build, I tried it offline and it smokes Chaos and World Stone Keep/Throne of Destruction and Ubers. One thing I forgot to make for this character to boost up its stats is CTA, will be doing that soon.

Awesome build. I am a patient man, I don't mind going it slow, and really enjoy having an act 5 Barb on my FoH. When it comes to stuff I can't kill I like to let him go ham while I heal his ass. I find it really enjoyable, it's nice to work as a team with my merc instead of using him purely as a mobile stat/buff stick. I am still playing around with the build, probably going to look into how it can support a party more effectively as there isn't much point investment to get FoH working well. Holy shield is useful but I think I can make do with 1 point in it for the most part.

North Star Smiter is literally everything the FoH paladin is but better. You can still heal spam, FoH spam, and more it's quite an effective build. On top of that you can even heal with the holy bolt procs from principle armor and laying of hands

Hi there Love the buld so far,but i run the attack speed calculator and it shows that i need 45 ias on the gear to reach max brakepoint.So i run a shael in the astreons and 15 ias on helm.

Love your D2 content. I'm building these thanks to you in current season (7). I bought a cheap +4 +55 Astreons, also have Umed HoZ, Dracs and Goblin Toe. Else I currently have viper magi, res and mf rings and amu, Torch and Anni. I used some IAS calculator. Are you sure you reach max speed? The calculators I used said you need lvl 36 Fana, then you only need 30IAS. With lvl34 (which you showed) it says you need 32IAS. I thought of putting a Shael in my Astreons, reach somehow lvl 36 Fana but then I'm wondering where I get the remaining 10IAS from and asl owhich helmet I shoud wear. At least for Ubers I thought GFace, maybe with 15/15 (but maybe very expensive).

with Shael Rune in Astreons you will hit the Max Ias Breakpoint for Smite. If you don't have a shael in astreons you need two 15% ias jewels (30% Ias in a helmet, or maybe 1 in shield/helm.)

Might have to respec my nl smiter eventually! I don’t think I’m gonna be able to get a solid exile this ladder

Just seeing this now. Original build is called vindicator for pvp many many years ago wielding grief PB + exile or hoz then on swap a cta made in a 3 conv 3foh stick ^^ very good build for a do it all din and pvp!

Nah, no grief, no exile, this build is designed around the Astreons, and hoz it also uses principle armor for HB procs.

Yes if you hit the target with a physical attack ranged or melee there is a chance to proc wisp

@@your_eulogy2688 you need at on the Enchant sorc anyways. #1 you wanna hit for life leech #2 you wanna hit for mana leech #3 you wanna hit to proc stuff #4 you wanna hit for open wounds #5 you wanna hit for CB #6 you wanna hit for the 12k on hit fire damage that you don't get if you miss Not hitting isn't really an option tbh.

What terror zones do you guys use this in I’m guessing just do chaos if the tv isn’t good. Keep in mind I’m missing a lot of the plus to skills he mentions in the vid I’m at plus 11. Fifteen if I give up a lot of res. Which I don’t want to do. I can only die once

I don't personally like using pride because it makes the mercenary hit like a wet noodle. But it's very effective for like a summon druid or something of that nature

Where would I put my points if FOH is main and I use smite to kill Baal/boss? Which skill should I focus maxing out to get the most dmg for smite? I currently have 1 point defiance, 1 point fanaticism, 1 smite, 1 holy shield, 7 conviction,max holy shock, max holy bolt, max FOH. My gear gives +24. My smite doesn't do any dmg to Baal in Hell at the moment at level 25 (gear gives +24 skill).

You're literally looking at the video that shows you precisely how to do that. The North Star Smiter is a full Powered FoH paladin & and Full powered Smiter. 20 FoH, 20 Holy Bolt, 20 Holy Shield, 20 fanaticism, 10 smite Use fanaticism as your main aura. Ignore the Lightning damage on FoH it sucks anyway. Ignore Conviction for FoH it's useless, as the on hit lightning damage is basically useless.

The build you’re showing is Smite being main and avoids some of the synergies with FOH. I’m interested in your opinion on what skills to focus on maxing if FOH is the main. Of the skills to increase Smite, which would you focus on?

Like I said the only synergies I avoid on FoH are the Lightning damage ones because they suck and are terrible for PvM. I feel like everything I said went right over your head

I love the principal armour but must admit I miss teleporting, any options available?

You can use enigma in place of the Principle armor you just won't get the Holy bolt spam. I personally never missed the Teleporting, I just charged everywhere. Due to the Meditation polearm on the merc for triple Regeneration, I also have basically infinite mana, and so I just Charge everywhere I want to go.

I threw a ber in the astreon's for another 20cb, which lets me wear war travs for the mf, and the little added damage it provides. Of course if I'm doing ubers, the gore riders/goblin toes come back on as mf does absofkngnothing for torch rolls :D

What a purpose of builds with 0 MF? I tried on few great builds on SSF, with no MF, and the result is really bad. Need your thoughts.

Most builds can squeeze in MF I talk about that at the end of the video. However 0 MF builds work great for lots of stuff. #1 Runes are unaffected by MF #2 Charms are unaffected by MF #3 Less MF means more base drops for runewords.

​​@@GGMentor I've been wondering about this - would 0MF actually be more value/time than +x%MF? Blue magic items have no value (in all but a few cases) and rares are only slightly better. Meanwhile, there are tons of combinations of valuable bases. By not converting these to blues/rares, would you actually be dropping more value/time?

I leveled it up from level 1 lol, I did it on SSF P8 and didn't have any issues really with garbage tier equipment. Go check out my paladin SSF P8 Run. I killed P8 Ubers with trash gear running this build

Smite rips down durability of weapons very fast. Having an indestructible weapon is very nice because of this. As I go over in the video.

I always wanted physical rainbow facets, worldstone shards,spikes and meteors, that provide 10% ow,ds, and cb respectively, with either up -5 percent enemy physical resist, or 2-5% ctc amp damage. I lean towards the latter,so many melee characters really need a source of amp and its so hard to come by.

@@tpola3648 yeah,you're not wrong about that,melee could use alot of love without throwing amp everywhere haha. I like the splash damage approach that pd2 does quite a bit,I've been going down that rabbit hole alot lately and see more and more things I'd love to see in d2r. I know the complete skill table reworks will never happen and I doubt for all that I pray that uniques will ever get the rework they deserve, but a boy can hope for lil things... I think 2h weapons should be doing at least 25% more base damage in general,maybe a full 50,for just one example. As it stands it's almost always better,and not much less damage(especially w phoenix) to wear a shield or a second weapon. I still build 2h chars out of love but they often aren't anywhere close to competitive.

There are people who have both PC and Xbox that will broker trades, you could try my discord for some of them.

I run same build. Foh cta in offhand.. grief exile main hand and gface. Chaos youd only need to clear with foh cta and switch to pure smite for diablo... but you can still foh out of pure smite set in a place like wsk2 with monster variety. Runs a enigma and can do ubers np with no tgods or gear swaps.

Grief is a bad option for this build, you lose crushing blow, and you lose +4 skills which is a lot of damage. Then you gotta make up that crushing blow somewhere else and lose even more skills. Every skill point lost is lost damage, lost defense, lost block chance, and lost health. Astreon's is by far the better choice for this build. As it offers +4 skills, and 33% Crushing blow, with slows target, and it's fast enough to hit the ias breakpoint without needing additional gear. It also has some grief damage as well. The 33% CB on the weapon means you don't need to sacrifice other gear for crushing blow bonuses and can keep maximum plus to skills. Astreon's is far superior to grief for this build. And it also out damages grief in pure smiting with this build. Grief does nothing but handicap the Northstar Smiter

I disagree I still have 85% cb with grief and because of the mechanics of foh it shreds just fine. Don't need to maximize its level to achieve the same results. An inventory of akiller gcs doest the trick fine.

After finding astreons iron ward I got the North Star to level 92. Only to have it die when my controller died. Doing an assassin and I’ll try North Star again when/if I find another astreons

Lord I can't deal with that stuff, I use keyboard and mouse. I had a Bluetooth controller but I don't use that anymore due to the disconnect issues. I swapped over to a wired controller for Elden ring and the like.

Any white u socketed helm can be rolled for sockets using the recipe. Max sockets on helms is also 3 so you could take a nice eth helm and larzuk it to 3

What is grief damage

It's a specific form of + damage that comes in at a very weird point in the calculations. It sort of functions like +Min and +Max damage but it's not. It's made famous due to the runeword Grief, but Grief Damage is also Present on many other items like Astreons Iron Ward, Redeemer, ect.

For the hardcore players Holy fire through most of nightmare switch to hammers to get through the rest of nightmare than switch to this build build and just farm the heck out of the pits

I ran this build SSF P8 all the way to Ubers. It's a solid build for leveling, end game or ubers. Obviously much more tanky with BiS equipment. But if I can run SSF P8 with this build I am sure Hardcore P1 would be easy
