Cool, I submitted the Valkyrie bug playing throw barb with peace armor a couple months ago. Surprised they got to it so soon.

Love that they are breathing life back into the game with these changes!

Right? I'm just glad they're doing the smart thing and making it about player choice and customization. Dont nerf the builds we already have, make other builds viable to compete and create synergies with previously useless skills to make them a viable option for the creative player to build a unique character

This is cool! I love when something simple can open up more build options. Maybe it’s time for a video on the top (reasonable) Iron Golem items? Thinking of stuff like Kelpie Snare or IK’s Maul.

Another great video. It's very informative. Just made a HOTO a couple weeks ago for my Sorceress. I'll definitely be using the Raven charges. I can't wait for patch 2.5 or whatever patch number Sony chooses to call it since I play this game on a ps4.

Actually, zoo druids got the most buffs from HotO since they can synergize the Ravens skill. They simply don't need to waste points in the skill anymore and still benefit from it (although they will lose the skill's new awesome damage at high levels)

No.. zoo druid now main Raven so anyway you spend points on them and you bet all on them; lvl 14 raven is still way left behind by a main Raven druid(lvl 40+).

Here's an interesting thought: Can you make an iron golem out of the Peace runeword and have him spawn a Valkyrie?

No everyone asks this, and the answer is the same. Mercs and minions can't have mercs and minions of their own. It's FORBIDDEN MUHAHAHA

Peace just became my favorite goto armor on not just the Amazon now :D

I’m excited that my insight iron golems are not going to be despawning and dieing to the rivers or random area collisions (hopefully) I get so bummed out when I get a free insight or a cool unique play like 2-3 areas then it’s just jumps into a nearby pit and is never seen again

Let me show you this concept that’s old, remember Captain Planet? Combine all the needed auras from 8 people and use buffs from Barbie, sorc and what you have is a nasty little guy. Totally a waste of time, but it’s been done and can clap.

@@GGMentor I do that with mine, and here is an interesting point: even wihout a HotO and a Spirit shield, a summoning druid can summon a lvl 17 valk with max roll Harmony using maximum +skills equipment for each slot + annihilus + CtA buff. The valk won't be able to get the other CtA buffs though - at least not from the druid himself.

I think that shouldn't work because the Iron Golem needs an item made out of Iron so bows shouldn't work

If I were a necro with a valkyrie using peace, would any of my summon skills boost her, or would I have to use harmony to actually summon her in order for that to work? And do auras boost her as well?

I tested the iron golem (with doom runeword) with a summon druid with maxed oak sage and with BO from CTA he never even came close to dying, even on P8 (although not sure how he'd fare in a terror zone) My character used a faith bow and Dracul's for CTC life tap for even more survivability. Metal grid and AR bonus from faith actually gave me a decent chance to hit with the bow. I also got an occasional reanimated from faith to add to the army Also used a might merc with pride and it was really quick up to P5. It was slower on P8 but still really easy. I was also playing with the idea of having a beast iron golem and then using lacerator on the main hand for CTC amp damage

Would anyone happen to know what the recipe is to craft that variation of his phaseblade he has?

If the golem dies you love the exile runeword , that is crazy to use

Iron golem will stay as long as you have a item equipped that grants any golem >_ I'll be curious if it's the same with using harmony to cast valk than put on peace. I love the peace + passion valk pre buff combo.

Would be great for a melee builds, AR, Defense makes up the loss of an amulet spot for metal grid. I think cheap runewords like harmony or insight would be good choices for iron golem.

Looking at your Harmony Bow isn't the +6 to Valkerie just 6 to the existing skill? so you have to have the skill?

The Harmony bow gives plus 6 to any character that is not an Amazon. It gives plus three to the Amazon that is how Oskills work If you want to learn more about o skills see my video on o skills

Blood Bite Phase Blade... orange text... is that a crafted weapon?

I've actually got a blood crescent that I think is gonna be REALLY fun to play with now that its being fixed. Blood golems heal the caster, so a melee with a blood golem is an awesome team potentially. Gonna be a fun thing to play with at least. Itd be nice if you could have a summon item iron golem AND your regular golem summons as a summon necro, if summon items counted as a separate summon group each so each item allows you another summon, so if you were REALLY wanting to just be the commander and not do anything of value, give up the neck slot for an iron golem, pop on the peace, wield a blood crescent, summon your army, and maybe one of the druid summon items? Really just make a max pets character. Would it be useful? God no. Would it be fun? Ohhhh yes! The peace valkyrie can basically stay because they removed the skillcheck timer from it. Honestly... shouldn't be broken or all that useful, just a cool niche thing to have. I'm truly grateful that blizzard is FINALLY deciding to fix this game. It has been missing a bunch of little but key things for 20 years. Many classes have skill trees that need almost complete revamping to even be viable, and there have been some amazing suggestions on the forums that im hoping they're listening to that would allow for really sweet niche character builds that are very creative and super fun. The metalgrid DOES NEED some changes for how rare it is though. While worn it should be giving like +5 to iron golem +5 to golem mastery, allowing the iron golem skill to be stacked with +skills if you choose to, as well as allowing necromancer to choose it as a "golem specialization" item, sacrificing +2 all from maras, which we basically all use, for +5 in 2 very specific skills. You can do lvl 17 charges on them too to allow non-necros to use it effectively, and that wouldn't change anything for a necro but those changes would open up a whole SLEW of builds. As for the blood golem.... he was very strong.... strong enough to make him worth using. Not BROKEN strong, but on par with a good iron, or clay and better than fire which still needs a serious buff.

The main problem is that Iron Golem doesn't get life from The skill, he only get's life from golem mastery. So lvl 22 IG is still extremely low on HP. They need to modify his skill a bit to give him more life when you level him up. As it is it's better to not level up the IG on a Necro and instead pump Golem Mastery.

Made it to the Bis neck in game for any one wanting mana aura

Peace's valk was weird, it was only bugged if you didnt have any points into valk and would usually despawn if you casted a spell or changed any gear. I ran a bow pali with harmony that fixed it

I remember when peace first came out. For the first few weeks if your merc was wearing peace. And if the Valkyrie was proc’ed, it would drop the game without saving.reverting your game to the save prior to the game that dropped. Meaning you could keep re-rolling runewords like CTA, and hoto. As well as when socketing items found you could roll sockets archon plates monarchs and pally shields, until you got the ones you were looking for.

After reading the patch note, I've tested it on Ps5 and it seem that the peace valk is bugged to desummon as soon as something in our inventory change, like picking up a potion, key, or putting something in our cube. Only from gold, it didn't immediately desummon and when I didn't move, it wouldn't desummon immediately. Weird bug and I'm so glad they fixed it. I've recently discover this runewords to be way more useful than I thought at first.

@@undeadsliver the patch is not live yet you can't test it on PS5. 2.5 is currently only live on the public test Realm which is not available on PlayStation.

Huge buff for my wizard barb cause now he can use all those spells!

If you are not a necro and wanna use a tanky iron golem, I suggest summoning it from a body armor base, preferrably an eth one, with a runeword with high +% armor and resistances. Smoke, Prudence and Stone are somehere in the "not that expensive but good" range.

Paladin shields are the best option imo, decent defense, 4 sockets, you can easily just drop 4 pdiamonds in a decent res paladin shield and get a very tanky golem.

@@GGMentor You may actually be right on that (for resistances, I'm 100% sure you are), but I'm aiming towards obscene levels of defense with low-to-mid investiment. Armos have 2.x times more base armor than shields and that makes a huge difference with the eth/+%defense multipliers.

Thanks for toning down the "omg broken" from the initial stream for this video. I really appreciate it dude, Blizzard pays attention to streamers in a way that they've never paid attention to the regular "faceless masses". This was an excellent and responsibly done review of the changes, and got across your excitement at finally being able to use these items for something while not giving the impression of the items being more powerful than they really are. Well done man. Sorry for getting on you on the livestream comments. Unfortunately, Llama decided to be the absolute worst example of irresponsible game reviewing on this one, even freaking out about how "broken" the xp from the terror zones is, but I've come to expect that from him. You I hold to a higher standard, cuz your quality as a games journalist and streamer has always been way higher than his IMO.

Maybe they made it where you can switch between weapons and not lose the summons, but have to have the weapon equipped to keep it. So maybe the Oath Runeword can allow you to have an Iron Golem summoned on your off hand while having another item as your main. Which also brings me to another question, think if you summon a level 22 Iron Golem from Metal Grid, you put Oath on it will stay if you remove Metal Grid? And if Oath will the Iron Golem keep the level 22 or go down to 17?

Iron Golem is made of the item you create him from, so he only has the item equipped you make him out of. He can not be customized any further than what you make him with.

Will ravens affect dueling? like will a smiting paladin now miss you if you're surrounded with ravens?

Yes, the Ravens can cause Recovery events, like block animations to play which could give you the upper hand in a battle.

Metalgrid on a barb sounds fun now, get a Fana Aura and buff it with super high BO to keep him alive?

Pretty much, though a bit costly if you mess up and get him killed. Which is easier then you think. Keep in mind if you die he also dies.

@@GGMentor Sweet Phil just did a durability test on players 1/3/7, and I think you're mostly right on higher levels at least. It would be fine in most cases on players 1 but one good strong elite pack with lightning enchant would probably kill it. I guess it's mostly a Meditation Aura placeholder?

I wonder if summoned golem using PEACE armor will be able to summon his own Valkyrie. Mercenaries using Tomb Reaver Cryptic Axe can reanimate and return from dead his own bones fighters, they are nice but AI for those need to be fixed to better follow the player (or at least better follow the Mercenarie)

It did alright when supported by Shouts, but did have trouble on characters that couldn't buff the golem.

Will merc proc Valkyrie with Peace on? It wasn’t proccing before.

no, but you can use the amulet to get a free lvl 22 iron golem that will synergize with your abilities, and save yourself 20 skill points

Valk summoned from either the peace runword, or the Harmony bow would despawn almost instantly or randomly even if she stayed at all. Now she actually stays.

Funny you showed a bug without realizing it. When you reappear the charges, min 9. Summons desapear

As the iron golem for non necro will always be weak (except maybe with strong Battle Orders/oak). So I think that having a golem for an offensive (crushing blow/openwounds for example) or utility (slow, curse proc, aura, ...) is very expensive and risky as the golem should die really often. But I think the best use of this 'charged' golem would be a tank., by giving it some defense and full imunities. So, it can tank a lot and even make some damage with its natural thorns. To do it the cheapest way, I would suggest : - Any base (or magic) paladin shield (more defense the better of course, etheral is even greater) with at least 3 sockets and +41 all resistance then you socket a perfect diamond, a perfect ruby and a perfect sapphire. With this type of base, the golem will have : *its innate poison immunity *Lighting resistance(innate 50%, diamond19%, shield 41% = 110% -> immunity) *Cold resistance (Sapphire 40%, Diamond 19%, shield 41% = 100% -> Imminity) *fire resistance (Ryby 40%, Diamond 19%, shield 41% = 100% -> Imminity). Thats the minimal base to be immune but if you are lucky (or rich), you could find a magic with at least 3 sockets and a nice suffix such as cold damage (chill), poison dmg (stop regen)/stop monster healing, dmg reduction; life leech and so on. If you have a 4th socket on the base (white or magic), you could also improve your golem with a jewel (cold/poison dmg for the effects, regen life,...) or a rune (but more expensive for a nice effect (budget options are sol and nef, or eld if it works see below) What is you opinion on this? Does the block chance works on the iron golem? I cant find a good answer on internet. If it does, it improves the golem even more.

@@CodyOwnedU Hey C M, yes it works if you can reach 100% res for all 4 res. If you or your merc has the 'flickering flame runeword' it's easier to reach as you don't need point in fire res, only 100 for cold and 50 for lighting.

since this question, have you tested metalgriding a random shield and watching if it procs block at all? on maxroll it shows that it does, but thats literally the only source of info i could find and unsure answer if so, sanctuary could be a next upgrade over eth shield with pgems or even exile with a flickering flame user up to 90ish light res. 100+fire, 140ishpoison and 40ish cold (not much cold scare i can think of)

Lol whatever you want to call it, it doesn't matter. It effectively makes the blood golem worse when the blood golem is already a poor choice among better choices. I am calling it what it is, an effective nerf to the Blood Golem, which it is.

I was able to keep one a live for some time during the ptr testing I did yesterday it really depended on what you made him out of and who was using him. Characters that were able to buff the golem like Paladin, Barbarian, Ect did well.

Yay ! Now here’s hoping they also bring the main feature of Terror Zones to solo / offline Players too, once the Patch goes live , after PTR 🙏 Otherwise these changes noted here (Metalgrid, etc) are the only real / things this Patch will bring to us…
