Having a simple and organized structure that players can understand and execute in is important to playing strong defense. Playing well defensively will help protect the dangerous areas of the ice and allow the defending team to earn the puck back and catch the opponent in a vulnerable position to counter attack. In this video you will will learn what areas of the ice you should protect and which areas of the defensive zone you should process the puck to force mistakes and turnovers.
