Though I am not a fan of Chitra I respect and like her for her humility,character and genuineness...no singer can be like Chithra considering her simple and humble nature..I like the voice of Sujatha..

Sujatha is a very good and established singer. But Chithramma is a mile ahead. She's equally brilliant in any genre of songs ranging from folklore to heavy carnatic songs For eg : There is a folk song in Tamil called othayile ninnathenne of Covai Sarala. You can see her versatility there. In classical genre there is a song called Pranthosmi guruvayupuresham in the movie Sindoorarekha. It is composed in a rare ragam called Mayashri( a janyam of 15th melakartha raga Mayamalavagowla). The way she sung it is terrific.

Chitra has a very lovable nature - a person we would like to reach out to as a mother or an elder sister. Listen to her addressing Sujata as Sujjuu..There is so much affection in her utterance. We can't detect anything fake in it. She is the embodiment of all that is good in Malayalis. And of course, the silken voice of Chitra, that has enraptured audiences all over India, is a very slight notch above Sujatha's.

Hindi version was not sung by Sujatha chechi. She sang only the Tamil version.

Sujatha is a well-accomplished, great singer, with such a lovely soothing voice but Chitra is on another level as a singer, her range is insane.

Don't compare the Legend Chithra with other singers. She has her own league

Suju chechi, I love you and your singing skills but Oolala is a much complex song than poo pookkum osai. That too the way Chithra chechi sang was beyond comparison. Remember "siru pillai pol manamirunthaal thuyarillaye, paravaye pol udalirunthaal bhayamillayeeee...thanthanee thanthaane kaiyyil bhoomi thanthaane..." What a range it was. Chithra chechi is legend.

The scenario wouldn’t change my dear . She had a lot limitations in the beginning including poor breath control and lack of grip on classical music , which are very much evident in the songs she had sung in 80s and 90s. Sujatha chechi is a great singer but Chitra chechi belongs to a different league all together.
