Dürres, Llogora and Piqeras, and Albanian tour

A recent trip to Albania to visit where mum grew up, and to see Dürres, Llogora and Piqeras along the beautiful coast. An undeveloped treasure of a place, and so much cheaper than neighbouring countries with big tourist trades. Albania is well worth a visit.
We flew into Tirana, and then took a taxi to Dürres to stay at one of mums friends for a few days. After that, we hired a cheap car, to travel along the coast, through Vlore, over the extremely high and very pretty Llogora pass, through the mountains, then along the "green coast" to a small and quiet village called Piqeras - an amazing, original Albanian village. There is not too much to do in Piqeras, there is the monastary on the hill (very small ruins), and there is a beach. The beach is great, really off the beaten track, down a small dirt track, and less crowded than most places. You can also stay at the beach huts here, to be right next to the sea!
Albania is incredible. A little more underdeveloped than other countries surrounding this area, and, I have to say, a lot cheaper. As long as you are willing to go the extra mile and try to speak the local language, you will find the people incredibly friendly, very helpful and will definately have a fun time-
