I think some people don't seem to appreciate what this couple is doing. They are doing different forms of Cuban dance and aligning them with musical changes. They are doing Casino (aka. Salsa Cubana), Rumba specifically Guaguancó, Son (but done on-1 instead of on-2), and some Orishas - Cuban folkloric dance associated with Santería. They have choreographed this in a very musical way IMO. Here is the breakdown: 00:00-00:25 Guaguancó 00:26-00:51 Casino (aka. Salsa Cubana) 00:52-01:03 Guaguancó 01:04-01:13 Casino 01:14-01:34 Steps are from Son the predecessor of Casino, but done on 1 01:35- 01:51 Cuban Suelta with a bit of Guaguancó moves 01:52-02:17 Casino (aka. Salsa Cubana) 02:18-02:53 Looks like one or more of the Cuban Orishas, unlike the above I am not very familiar with them so can't say which one it is. 02:54-03:48 Back to Casino, with a Guaguancó Vacunao thrown into the mix 03:49-04:14 Back to Suelta, some Guaguancó and some Orishas 04:15-End. Casino (aka. Salsa Cubana) It is accurate to say they are doing dances other than Casino (Salsa Cubana), but during the Casino sections they are doing 101% authentic Casino. Some people may comment on the lack of forward stepping at times, but what they are doing is representative of how a lot people dance Casino in Cuba. I think its great what they have recorded here.
