We played Daifugo (大富豪) , my favorite card game ever, with Victor and Tomoko! The rules that we teach might be a little different from the ones that you know, but this is how we play! I think the rules Jun uses make the game exciting and more interesting. This is our longest video so far but I hope you can enjoy! :D

Since a lot of people here have played their own countries' versions, according to Wikipedia the games played in Western countries originated from the Japanese version, while other similar East Asian games don't necessarily have a single source written down (that I could find)! :D "President (also known as Scum, Asshole, Arsehole (in British English), Kings, Scumbag (in Australia[2]), Janitor, "Man of the House", Landlord, Rich Man Poor Man and many other names), an Americanized version of Dai Hin Min..." -Rachel

Rachel & Jun In France as a student, i'm used to play it called : "President" or "Asshole" and it's very funny, in small parties, we're playing it as a drinking game, and in the end, it become difficult to think about each other minds X') ! In our version, the rule I love the most, is when somebody put any card (aside the 2) you can put the same card on it, but it affects the player after you, he has to put the same card or he has to pass, or put a joker for exemple : Player 1 : 3 of spades player 2 : 7 of diamonds Player 3 : 7 of clubs Player 4 : 7 of whatever or pass or Joker (but it will be the 7) This rule is perfect to keep away the futur President, or anyone else from the win :D !

Rachel & Jun It's similar to polish makao but more complicated. In polish version you take only 5 cards at the beginning and you can make someone pick up cards or "stun" them and if you have to pass you take one card.... it's kind of weird when I think about it :D

That's almost the same as here in Québec (French Canada) :D we call it "Trou d'cul" which means "asshole"
I like this way of conversation. You speak in whatever language you're comfortable with at the moment, yet everyone understands you.
Woah! It's up!!!

This was so fun to watch. Learning to play a new game and just listening to you guys speak. Switching between Japanese and English so fluidly. I wanna be able to do that one day. c:
This is great! I've always been a fan of Victor. It's good to see your guys together.
I wanna play this game now... IF I HAD FRIENDS! www The ending was cute x3
Great video! So much fun watching you guys play and learning the rules!
Omg..I had to pause half way watching the video just to let you know i haven't had this much fun watching one in ages. I can almost feel like i was in that same room enjoying the game. Thank you guys.
Rachel glad you see us as friends I watched the Givemeaflake man Interview video and whoa. I really respect you, your really inspirational. My dream is to go to japan in order to fulfill that dream i had to move to mexico to study engineering. I haven't seen my parents in over 2 years. I want to go to japan but not as a emotional teen that just wants to go to japan and cause problems to the Japanese. I want to be useful to them. I'm studying mecatronics engineering. Right now i'm going to enter a sumo robot competition need to start working to pay for the parts. Hope i win ;)

That is so awesome!! And I really glad to hear about your desire to be useful! I've always felt that way about me with my job and the country I live in, too. :D Thank you for saying that--I don't usually hear about people who feel that way, too! Good luck with the mecatronics! That sounds like such a cool career field and I'm sure it takes a lot of math way beyond anything I could do. Respect. XD -Rachel

Rachel & Jun I would be excited too to meet either VIctor, Tomoko or Jun or you Rachel, I found your channel because of him and so glad that I did, I learn alot and so look forward to visit Japan soon. I hope your able to make video with them soon. Thanks for your response.
OMG! This game is really common here in Spain! Here it is called "Comemierda" which literally means Shit eater haha! It's a bit different though, because we play with the Spanish Deck, not with the French one. So, instead of pikes, clovers, tiles and hearts, we have coins, clubs, swords and cups (we use the French deck too, but only for some games like poker). By the way, in the Spanish version you're not supposed to continue with the same symbol, as long as the card you use is equal or bigger to the previous one it's fine. Oh, and we have the 2 of coins, which is the biggest card in our game and defeats any card. The winner of the round is called president, then there are the vicepresident, the peasants, the shit and finally the shit eater. It's interesting to know that this game is so international!
I felt nostalgic Daifugo. I am looking at your video always happily. Thank you :D
Wow. That's a very interesting game!
Man, Tomoko is awesome at this game lol
Whoa, Tomoko is really good at this game!
This looks fun.
you guys are awesome
This is an Alien Vs. Predator level cross-over. I'd love to see more videos like this!
DAYUM!!! that was SO CONFUSING!!! think I'll stick with poker! lol
Merry Christmas! ^_^
Woa, this is really cool, I hope I can play this some day. I thought this video would be too long but I actually watched it all without skipping. Thank you so much for a very informative and fun video.

Rachel & Jun ─=≡Σ((( つ╹ω╹)つ♡ ermagerddddd you replied to my comment. And don't worry, this video isn't too long, I even replayed one more time to learn the rules again. I wish I had cards to play along but I couldn't find mine anywhere TToTT P/s: I just found out about your channel for a week and watched almost all of your videos. I adore you guys so much. Hope we can meet someday, even though I'm from Vietnam and I've never been to Japan, but hopefully
Rich man poor man!! I use to love this game!!
We have something similar in Thailand too! The winner is called 'king' and the loser is called 'slave'. There isn't as many little special rules like this but the concept is pretty much the same. It's so amazing to see variations of the game is being played around the world :3 Now I know that card game is what every country enjoy!
Looks like a fun game. I'd love to see victor and/or tomoko trying dota 2 x)
Thank you for showing us this new game! My entire family plays a card game called Rook (aunts, uncles, cousins...everyone!). We are all highly competitive... I can't wait to teach them this!
For a moment I thought you were going to play Cards Against Humanity (just a wild guess based on the thumbnail). Imagine how that would turn out...
Really cool video, guys! So fun. ^_^ I'm going to have to try playing this later.
大富豪懐かしいですね。トランプは修学旅行などの必需品なのでよくやってました。
Yay! I love both of your guys' videos! ^~^
Gooosh, nice crossover! xD I'm following both channels, this is a pretty nice surprise xD
Great Video....Looks like a fun game....I asked my wife if she has ever played and she said she does not remember how...but did like playing as a child...
I've played this before! It's super fun. :)
Wow, I just got a ton of old Rachel & Jun videos in my recommendations. Well here goes nothing :D
Now i see whats going on all the videos on both channels have come full circle ;p well played :)
Aahh, I first heard of this game from Fruits Basket years ago, good to finally see the rules for it. I will study this video.
I love this game. The main problem with this game is that it gets awful drunk out, regardless of the weather.
@RachelandJun
10 жыл бұрын
hahaha we thought about playing it as a drinking game! But actually out of all four of us Victor is the only one who really drinks! XD I was up for it but Jun and Tomoko seem like they get sick/drunk really quickly so the idea was kind of abandoned!
lol I want more vids of you all playing board games and card games like this...
Wow!! Ill have to try this version (ive played president before!) this way looks way better :D
Awesome!
fun video with some awesome youtubers!! This game reminds me of a game I used to play in highschool called "13", the rules are a bit different but the objective is the same to get rid of all your cards. also wanted to let it be known that Jun is one cool dude! so laid back haha.

Awesome I play this game when I was at Mexico. How interesting it has so many different names.
Once again love love love the length of this video :) Daifugo seems very complicated at first but I guess it just takes time to get use to it,will give this game a go one day! :) Love the part when Rachel went "Now he's thinking about whether he wants to piss off his wife" and Jun just kinda laughed a lil then there goes Victor talking about grudges HAHAHAHAHA
@RachelandJun

Yeah, this is one of those things where the explanation is more complicated than the game!! A lot of people I play with only need a few games to really get the hang of a good strategy. ^^

Rachel & Jun Now that I think about it again it is true,the whole time when you were explaining I was like "uhhhhh" trying to process it in my brain. I'm pretty slow with games so who knows OTL But I'm sure once I get the hang of it,I'd probably invite people to play all day :) And thank you for the reply Rachel,appreciate it tons!
It is just like the game Arschloch in Germany O.o very cool
I love card games...and this one looks really fun to play :) It would be awesome to see more of these kinda things on your channel :)
Oh my god! This looks so fun, I'm going to play this all the time now. (:
OMG! I remember thinking while watching your Oasis 21 video how strange it was to see a person walking around Japan in a reindeer costume. I didn't think people in Japan were that crazy about Christmas. Little did I know that it was Victor haha xD
ah, the Japanese variant of big 2 (cho dai di)! super fun game. :D
This is just like the game 13!!
I wanna play that game. Seems fun.
Interesting concept. Winning isn't the primary goal (and thus the prime motivator directing one's strategy); NOT LOSING is.
You all seem very fun people =)
OMG!!!!!!!! i love you guys are together!!!!!!!!! hahhha
omg, Victor!!
Card games=what we REALLY learned in school :)
That looks like fun! I love card games, I play them a lot with my family. Domino games are pretty fun too. Teaching language students card games in the language you're trying to teach them is really helpful, my French teacher had a small class one day and had us play go fish in French. Allez possez!
We have this in Norway too! Only here it is called "president og boms" wich means "president and hobo". It is a great card game.
This'll be another game to add as a conversation starter! Thanks! ^_^
And I like it, it's good!
26:01 R&J eyes contact at the same time XD
This will be my evening
this looks really complicated hahah, but also a lot of fun
Funny how all the Japanese KZreadrs I subscribe to keep appearing on each other's channels.

When I saw this I was reminded of a game my brother and sister tried to teach me a couple of years ago. I'm really dense at learning new things and I was surprised to see it was similar. In my country, the game's called Asshole and I didn't really realise it until I read your comment on the western versions of the game. I always wondered how to play Daifugo after reading about it in Fruits Basket, in one of the mangas they have an explanation of the game though.
Oh man, this brings me back to going to school in Japan! Me and my school mates would play this during our lunch break and after school and we would remember our rankings as Dai Hime or Dai Fugo to continue our struggle for dominance. Lots of good rules, like Shibari, and Lakkii Sebun (lucky 7), Jack backs, and others. This brings so many memories!
@SantomPh

Shibari = Tied up? Rope?
@makotoni11
10 жыл бұрын
They used the term kaidan, which is stairs, but we used the phrase Shibari to "tie up" the next players to stick to a suit or to ascending or descending numbers. play a 4 of clubs and play a 5 you can call shibari. But if you don't call out shibari you don't have to adhere to the rule. strategy.
@RachelandJun
10 жыл бұрын
makotoni11 Kaidan is for when you lay down three or more cards in a "straight" at one time. We use shibari for locking in suits, too!

Natsukashii, I haven't played this game in 5 years since I moved back to the US, and It is rather difficult to try and explain to americans, but this video will give me a huge boost. You guys explained it so well!
Tomoko desu i luv ya
Its exactly like president! Its a card game that uses basically the same rules minus all of the special ones, unless you choose to add those kinds of rules yourself!
